Interfraternity Council Academic Cup: Created this past year to show the balance between our community’s commitment to Athletics & Academics, the IFC Academic Cup is awarded to the fraternity who has procured the greatest number of points during the academic year.

Scholar of the Year Award: The scholar of the year award is presented to the undergraduate student from each council who has excelled in academics during the past year and has served as a positive influence in the Greek Community through his or her involvement and character.

Athlete of the Year: The Athlete of the Year award is given to the member of IFC and Pan- hellenic who best exemplified well rounded athletic skills and great sportsmanship through in- volvement in intramural sports.

Outstanding New Member: The Outstanding New Member of the year award recognizes an exceptional new member from each council and encourages them to continue their commitment to the advancement of the fraternity and sorority community at Drexel.

On April 14, Pi Kappa Alpha helped host Drexel’s 6th annual Relay For Life event in the Armory. The fraternity set a goal to raise $64,000 for the American Cancer Soci- ety through the event. Walkers collected pledges to complete the 12 hour relay, and fraternities, sororities, and student organi- zations hosted food and activity tables throughout the space to collect additional funds. The event had 70 teams over 590 par- ticipants raising funds. The American Cancer Society is a nationwide health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer by preventing the dis- ease, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service. To date, the fraternity has raised $43,820. Team ‘Lambda Chi Alpha 3’ and Lambda Chi Alpha member Stephen DiPietro are the top fundraisers for the event. PAGE 14 GREEK COLUMNS VOLUME 10, ISSUE

Greeks Recognized at 2012 Student Life Awards

Held on May 17, the annual Student Life Awards recognize the best of the best students and organizations from the Drexel University community with various awards and scholarships at a banquet attended by students, staff, and families.
