PROVIDENCE COLLEGE FRIARS - 19 FRIARS IN THE COMMUNITY

One of the major aspects of the Providence College Athletics Mission Statement is to be involved in the community. The softball team, led by Head Coach Dana Fulmer and Assistant Coach Kerri Jacklets, continues to carry its rich tradition of community service throughout Rhode Island. This past year, the softball team participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer five-mile walk, raising $720 in donations for the American Cancer Society. The squad also supported the sailing team that organized the Domestic Violence Awareness 5K, with donations going to the Rhode Island Coalition against Domestic Violence. In its Eighth-Annual Food Drive, the Friars collected nearly 400 lbs. of food and donated it to the Rhode Island Coalition against Domestic Violence. The team also volunteered at the Rhode Island Festival of Trees, a holiday event featuring musical entertainment, professionally decorated trees as well as arts and crafts for children. The Friars continued their service with the Holiday Festival that helped the Mary House Ministry at the St. Patrick Parish. The team assisted at the Christmas Bazaar, selling food, raffles, running games and much more. All the proceeds went to the meal kitchen.
