History of Working Wardrobes Now Celebrating 21 Years of Service

Since 1990, Working Wardrobes has transformed over 50,000 lives. We look forward to the second 20 years of great success. Our organization has made its mission to provide caring career development services to survivors of major life crises and make a difference in the community.

Now, the organization is able to help nearly 5,000 men and women re-enter the work force- each year. "Days of Self-Esteem" have become exciting annual events that draw hundreds of volunteers, the year-round Career Center provides wardrobes and grooming services on a daily basis for fees paid by agencies for their clients, upscale resale stores called The Hanger (at Brea, Laguna Niguel, and Tustin), and a thrift shop opened to provide funding stability. A "Cinderellas for Life" event provides prom dresses, etiquette/posture, skin/health care and treasure mapping workshops to 500 underprivileged teens and an incredible experience to hundreds of volunteers.

Working Wardrobes owes much of its growth to the Board members, corporations, generous donors and volunteers who have made it possible for our clients to achieve success. Those corporations and foundations include:

• Allergan • Men's Wearhouse • BDS Marketing • Mimi's Cafe • The Boeing Company • O.L. Halsell Foundation • Cookie Lee Jewelry • Pacific Life Foundation • Disney Resort • Pentair Foundation • Edward Life Science Foundation • Southern California Edison • FIDM • State Street • Hilton Hotel/Irvine • Weingart Foundation • IBM Corp • Wells Fargo Bank • Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP

The organization is now firmly planted in a permanent 16,500 square foot facility that houses its administrative offices, Career Center and Donation Facility and is open for tours daily. Jerri says, "There are no plans to stop now; there is no way that we could stop now! We've come so far and there is no other place to go except up. Our goal now is to expand services for more clients in Southern California. The need is greater than ever and getting people back to work is the most critical issue facing our community."
