Blast from the past

• 11- - • - Wilbur was a tough as nails centreman, whose No. 6 spent most of W BI the game under packs getting the ball, he was very elusive with pace ayn e ay that had to be seen to be believed. Wayne started his senior career as a 15 year old playing for Kew in the VAFA, he has played for Carlton in the VFL, represented Victoria 14 times while in the VAFA, Coached Kew (VAFA), Woori Yallock (YVMDFL) and at North Wagga (1986). He played in 3 1st grade and • Captain-coached a 2nd grade premiership team (1993), has won 4 B&F awards and came runner-up on 6 occasions. Age 55 Nickname - Wilbur Position - centre Best area Footballer - Matt Chilcott PRIME, Most Annoying Team Mate: John "Jacko" Copland - He's Feet stank. and he always used to pinch my gear. He lived near me, I would regulary arrive home to find the beer fridge empty, with a note on it saying "Ha Ha - Lock ya garage !! go Pies!!" WEEKNIGHTS AT 6.00 Funniest Team mate: Mark "Hooch" Hofert - Hooch seemed to live in a world of his own,.he had no teeth and would never handball, I used to laugh watching his antics up forward. Most embarrassing moment: In my first senior match as a 15 year old, a blue started so I backed myself and went straight in - came out with a cut eye and wearing only my boots, socks and undies- I learnt several valuable lessons that day. 1. wear decent undies; 2. there is always someone better than you; 3. one in all in; 4. men hit harder then teenagers Best achievement: Winning my first premiership with Kew in the VAFA, my father Ken played in their last premiership team some 20 years earlier - it was good to share the win with him.
