IN CHEMISTRY • Teaching experience 12 years • Research experience 17 years • Published seven original research articles • Research interests on synthetic inorganic chemistry TEACHING EXPERIENCE Serving as Assistant Professor at Bejoy Narayan Mahavidyalaya, Itachuna, Hooghly since 01.03.2016. Served as Assistant Professor at Sri Ramkrishna Sarada Vidya Mahapitha, Kamarpukur, Hooghly from 25.06.2007 to 29.02.2016 Course taught: UG (Honours and General) RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Awarded Ph.D: In Chemistry (Synthetic Inorganic Chemistry) on 25.11.2005 from Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700 032, India Title of thesis: STUDIES ON THE COORDINATION CHEMISTRY OF THE PLATINUM METALS WITH SOME N,O,S-DONOR LIGANDS Research area My research experience has developed mainly from the design and synthesis of new systems and study their reactivities. As the primary step I have prepared suitable new organic compound as 2 ligands, especially polydentate ones incorporating different donor sites. The obvious next objective has been to bind these ligands to selected metal ions to afford the targeted complexes, and study their gross structures, properties such as elemental analysis, electrochemical properties (cyclic voltammetry and constant potential coulommetry), spectral properties (NMR, EPR, IR, UV-VIS- NIR, Fluorescence spectroscopy, Mass spectroscpy) etc and reactivities. In every steps of purification of complexes and characterisation of them we have used different analytical techniques. I have done work on the platinum group metals in general and ruthenium, rhodium, iridium in particular. The significant part of my research work is (i) variable binding of multidonor ligands, (ii) interesting chemical transformation (cyclometallation), (iii) synthesis and characterisation of new potentially biologically important thiosemicarbazone complexes, (iv) synthesis of new organometallic complexes, (v) study the reactivity of the complexes, (vi) Design, synthesis, DNA binding study, DNA photocleavage activity and chemical nuclease activity of new artificial nucleases (molecules that cleave DNA) based mainly on metallo-polypyridyl complexes. Analytical Techniques Chromatography : Expertise in Thin Layer and Column Chromatography Spectroscopy : Analysis of 1H and 13C NMR, Mass spectra. Recording and interpretation of UV- VIS-NIR spectra, Fluorescence spectra Cyclic Voltammetry and Constant Potential Coulommetry. Interpretation of FT-IR, EPR, TGA-DTA and EHMO calculations. Gel electrophoresis : Expertise in gel electrophoresis technique Achievements • Design and synthesis of new systems • Design and synthesis of several new multidentate organic molecules as ligands • Synthesis of new organometallic complexes • C-H activation by Wilkinson's Catalyst and [Ir(PPh3)3Cl] and S-H activation by [Ir(PPh3)3Cl] • Design, synthesis, DNA binding study, DNA photocleavage activity and chemical nuclease activity of new artificial nucleases • Study the reactivity of the complexes LIST OF PUBLICATIONS 1. PROCEEDINGS OF THE International Seminar on Recent Advances in Chemistry and Material Sciences (2021), Young Scientist Conclave (2021) & Student Science Meet (2021) The 160th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray 01-03 & 07-08 August, 2021 iii FOREWORD “International Seminar on Recent Advances in Chemistry and Material Sciences (2021), Young Scientist Conclave (2021) & Student Science Meet (2021)” is being organized by the Indian Chemical Society to commemorate the 160th Birth Anniversary of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray, the doyen of Chemical Sciences in India. This is 16th in the series of Symposium, the first one was held in 2006, as a part of Birth day celebration of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray, founder President of the Indian Chemical Society. The Indian Chemical Society, one of the oldest learned bodies of our national pride was established on May 09, 1924. Acharya P. C. Ray, after returning from Edinburgh first joined the Presidency College, Kolkata in 1889 and later in 1916, joined the Department of Chemistry, newly formed University College of Science, University of Calcutta as the Palit Professor of Chemistry. Acharya Ray was intimately associated with the Indian Chemical Society till the last breath. The school of modern chemical research established by Acharya Ray in the University College of Science, where he used to live in the later part of his life, subsequently spread over the entire country through his many illustrious disciples. Acharya Ray had always strongly advocated for effective interactions between industries and academia. He himself was the founder of Bengal Chemical and Pharmaceutical Works Ltd.
