Petra 2020's project database has been upgraded to version 4.0 and is not back- ward compatible with projects created in earlier versions. All Petra projects cre- ated in previous versions must be upgraded to the new database before they can be opened in Petra 2020 or later.
Before installing Petra 2020
DO NOT install Petra 2020 before performing required maintenance and repair procedures on your projects database using the tools provided with your current version of Petra (2019 or earlier). This is part of the best practices for Petra and typically includes Repair, Re-index, and Optimization. Once maintenance and repair have been performed, make back ups of all your projects.

Install Petra 2020
Once all database maintenance and repairs have been completed, download Petra 2020 from the Petra Downloads page and install.
After Installing Petra 2020
Once Petra 2020 has been installed, projects must be upgraded using "DBIUp- grade.exe" that is installed with Petra 2020.
Upgraded projects will no longer be usable by any previous version of Petra.

DBIUpgrade.exe is the standalone program used to upgrade your Petra pro- jects from database version 3.0 to 4.0.
The self executable file is located in the Geoplus1 directory.

Folder Selects directory path to project folder Load Loads projects from selected directory into Project Table

l Private Path—Directory path for user specific private parameters. Not used in multi-user mode.
l INI Path—Project.ini file directory path. Default = C:\Geoplus1\projects
l DB Ver.—Version number of project database. Petra 2020 and above requires version 4.0
l Status—Displays project upgrade status, Required or Complete
l Max File Size MB—Displays size of largest file in project. Multiply this file size by two and verify that the number is smaller than the number in the Temporary Folder Free Space field. When upgrading projects:
l Make sure that a backup copy of your project exists. Upgraded projects cannot be opened in previous versions.
l Perform any maintenance or repair required on your projects before upgrading them
l Only one project can be upgraded at a time
l Verify that you have enough disk space available to perform an upgrade. DBIUpgrade accesses your computers temporary folder during the upgrade process and requires two times the amount of space of the largest file in your project.
Once the upgrade has been completed the temporary files created are deleted from your temporary folder.
Single User Project Database Upgrade
Make sure that a backup copy of your project exists. Upgraded projects cannot be opened in previous versions.
1. Launch DBIUgrade.exe (C:\geoplus1\DBUIUpgrade.exe). Application opens and populates project table with list of existing projects.
2. Select a project with DB Ver 3.0 or less to upgrade
3. Verify that you have enough disk space available to perform the upgrade
4. Click Upgrade button
5. When upgrade process is complete close the application or select another project and repeat steps.

Application support needs to upgrade the project databases on the server. When opening a project, users will be prompted to update their PRIPARMS (user set- tings).
Make sure that a backup copy of your project exists. Upgraded projects cannot be opened in previous versions.
1. Launch DBIUgrade.exe (C:\Petrasrv\DBUIUpgrade.exe). Tool opens and populates project table with list of existing projects.
2. Select Update public projects only check box
3. Read and acknowledge resulting message box
4. Select a project with DB Ver 3.0 or less to upgrade
5. Verify that you have enough disk space available to perform the upgrade
6. Click Upgrade button
Users will be prompted to upgrade their PriParms data (private settings) when opening the upgraded project for the first time.
7. When upgrade process is complete, close the application or select another project and repeat steps.
