The Center for the Study of Pollitics and Governance hosted a series of publlic forums with the major party candidates for Minnesota''s 3rd Congressionall District seat to foster informed and substantive discussion of important matters of publlic pollicy.. The forums created an opportunity for the candidates to rise above the tallking points and fractious back-and-forth of the campaign to address the substantive pollicy challllenges facing Minnesota and the country.. It allso created a forum for students and citizens to llisten and raise questions with their ellected officialls..

REPRESENTATIVE ERIK PAULSEN

Erik Paullsen grew up in Chanhassen and currentlly resides in Eden Prairie.. He received a bachellor’’s degree from St.. Ollaf Collllege.. Paullsen began his career in marketing at Cablle Vallue Network (CVN).. After CVN,, Paullsen began working for Senator Rudy Boschwitz and llater went to Washington,, D..C.. to work for Congressman Jim Ramstad.. He currentlly works as a business anallyst for Target Corporation.. In 1994,, Erik was ellected to the Minnesota House of Representatives,, serving Edina and Eden Prairie,, whom he continues to serve as his constituency.. At the State Capitoll,, Erik was ellected House Majority Leader.. He currentlly serves on the Ways and Means,, Taxes,, Commerce and Rulles committees.. Paullsen has participated in severall distinguished lleadership programs and fellllowships,, inclluding: The Aspen Institute Rodell Fellllowship in Publlic Leadership,, The German Marshallll Memoriall Fellllowship,, The Young Leaders Forum of the Nationall Committee on U..S..-China rellations,, and American Council of Young Polliticall Leaders..
