Van Zyverden Woodland Plant Trillium Grandiflorum- Set of 3 Roots Trilliums are a genus of perennial flowering plants native to the temperate regions of North American and Asia. They are known as low growing woodland wildflowers and flower in spring. They are easy to grow, requiring little care but you will need to have the appropriate con- ditions. Trilliums are not a good choice for the desert southwest due to its drought conditions, unless special arrangements have been made. They are a sight to behold not only in their native habitat but also in the garden. They are recognized by their whorl of three leaves and showy flowers, in fact nearly all parts of the plant come in threes. • Plant woodland plants to assure their survival • Perfect companion for similar woodland wonders like ferns • Plant under trees or unused wooded areas About This Variety: Trillium grandiflorum is a graceful perennial that is one of the most familiar and beloved of the spring woodland wildflowers in eastern North America. It is native to rich woods and thickets from Quebec to Ontar- io to Minnesota south to Alabama and Georgia. Leaves, petals and sepals all come in groups of three. Growing Instructions: Trilliums demand rich, slightly acid, woodsy soil that never dries out so some care is required in choosing a site. Care Tip: In order for Trillium to thrive in the home garden, one must mimic their native habitat by providing moist, well draining soil enriched with organic matter. Once established, they require little maintenance or care.
