2nd SUNDAY OF ADVENT (B) Sunday 29th November 2020 Year B, Weekday Cycle 1, Psalter Week 2

Dear Parishioners, Those of us of a certain age, grew up watching “ of Naz- areth” on ITV. For many of us when we imagine the face of Jesus we will see the face of the actor Robert Powell. To a degree the same is true of , whenever I imagine him I think of (starred as D’Artagan in 1973). However, to be honest, it is not important who John the Bap- tist looked like, but rather what he did with his life and said with his words. John pointed to Jesus in both what he said and did. “Someone is following me, someone who is more powerful than I am, and I an not fit to kneel down and undo the straps of his sandals. I have baptised you with water, but he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit.” In this Advent season may we begin in our words and through our actions to point to Him who is coming to us. Maranatha, … Come, Lord Jesus. May God bless you and your families in this Advent Season. Fr. Kieren
