POLITICAL SIGN REGULATIONS

This information is provided in order to guide any candidate and/or any supporter for a candidate or political issue, regarding the proper placement of political signs.

The following are excerpts of the City of Grandview requirements for the political signs, pursuant to the Zoning Ordinance, Section 31-24, paragraphs (C) Signs Prohibited and (E) Exemptions from Permits:

1. All signs in, upon, or over any public property or street right-of-way shall be expressly prohibited in all zoning districts.

2. All signs attached to trees, utility poles, or drawn upon rocks or other natural features whether on public or private property, shall be expressly prohibited in all zoning districts, except warning and/or identification signs placed by public utility companies.

3. All political signs must comply with the maximum size allowed per zoning districts of this Ordinance, as listed below:

A. Political signs shall be permitted in residential zoning districts, not exceeding nine (9) square feet in area per face, with a maximum area of eighteen (18) square feet

B. Political signs shall be permitted in commercial, office, industrial and purpose zoning districts, not exceeding thirty-two (32) square feet per face, with a maximum area of sixty- four (64) square feet.

NOTE: Signs may be placed no sooner than thirty (30) days prior to any election and any candidate who in the primary election must remove all their signs, within seven (7) days, after the primary election and all remaining political signs must be removed within seven (7) days, after the general election.

Illegal signs will be removed by the City of Grandview and must be claimed at the city within 48 hours. It is the responsibility of the candidate to comply with the Ordinances.
