The City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas met in special session on the 9th of May, 2011, at the Buddy & Maria Elena Holly Plaza, 1824 Crickets Avenue, Lubbock, Texas at 4:00 p. m.

Present: Mayor Tom Martin; Mayor Pro Tem Floyd Price; Council Member Paul R. Beane; Council Member Karen Gibson; Council Member Victor Hernandez; Council Member Todd R. Klein; Lee Ann Dumbauld, City Manager; Rebecca Garza, City Secretary; and Sam Medina, City Attorney. Absent: Council Member Jim Gilbreath

1. REGULAR AGENDA 1.1 Welcome, Introductions, and Comments Mayor Tom Martin welcomed those in attendance. 1.2 Recognition of Elected Officials, Staff, Centennial Committee Members, Ms. Maria Elena Holly, and others in attendance. Mayor Martin recognized Elected Officials, Staff, Centennial Committee Members, Ms. Maria Elena Holly, and others in attendance. 1.3 Comments Mayor Martin introduced Brooke Allison, Director of Municipal Museums and Special Events; Randy Truesdell, Director of Parks and Recreation; Kim McPherson, McPherson Cellars; and Maria Elena Holly. All gave comments on the hard work and dedication of all those involved with the Buddy & Maria Elena Holly Plaza. 1.6 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the opening of the Buddy & Maria Elena Holly Plaza. Mayor Martin, Maria Elena Holy, Members of City Council, Lee Ann Dumbauld, City Manager; and Traci Cheek, Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, initiated the ribbon cutting.

Special City Council Meeting Page 2 of 2 April 27, 2011 1.4 Unveiling of Centennial Committee Plaque Mayor Martin, Maria Elena Holly, and members of the Lubbock Centennial Committee unveiled the plaque donated by the Lubbock Centennial Committee. 1.5 Unveiling of the Statue Mayor Martin, Maria Elena Holly, and other City Council Members in attendance, unveiled the Buddy Holly Statue.
