Site Visit Shatin to Central Link SCL 1108 – and Associated Tunnels

Date and Time: 16 September 2017 (Saturday) 9:00 am to 11:30 am

Project Introduction The Shatin to Central Link (SCL) is a strategic railway line that stretches from Tai Wai to Admiralty, connecting several existing railway lines and passing through multiple districts in Hong Kong. It will serve the areas in East where are currently not covered by any railway services with newly built stations, and helps to strengthen the linkage between the New Territories and Hong Kong Island. The Kai Tak Station is located at the former . The Scope of Works of SCL Contract 1108 includes the construction of the Kai Tak Station and the approx. 720m long associated tunnels towards Station. The tunnels were primarily constructed by cut and cover method, with a small section constructed by mining method to preserve the Former Pier.

Site Visit Itinerary The participants would be furnished with a presentation of project brief followed by a site walk introducing the construction status and actual site works for the Kai Tak MTR Station. The arrangement of site walk might vary subject to the site condition on the day of visit. Registration The number of participants is limited to 25. Members wishing to join the site visit are requested to complete

Applicants are required to note that neither the Institution nor the parties concerned accept any liability in connection with the visit. (Please note that applicant will be banned for participating 3 consecutive visits if one fails to turn up after the successful registration)

Protective Equipment & Safety Arrangement Visitors must put on their own safety shoes, safety helmet and reflective vest for the visit. Late comers or persons not wearing proper PPE will not be entertained.
