She survives and returns to the hideout, but learns from a news broadcast that the public believes her to be dead. She passes herself off as a counterpart of Supergirl from an alternate Earth and soon gains popularity, but her ego causes a rift with the other girls. After Livewire publishes an unflattering account of her fight with Supergirl, Power Girl angrily dismisses both it and her friends' attempts to remind her of what Supergirl stood for. During a fight at the reopened power plant, Livewire blasts Power Girl into a crater and boasts about defeating her as easily as Supergirl. Power Girl takes her friends' words to heart and resumes her Supergirl identity to knock out Livewire. The villain is arrested, and Power Girl "leaves" Earth as the workers start complaining about the newly wrecked plant all over again, to Supergirl's annoyance. Politics Business Science Sport Roses Freshers Muse › Film & TV › Features Film Reviews TV Reviews Festivals TV Review: Supergirl – Series 1 Supergirl had a good first series, establishing solid foundations for the show whilst exhibiting only a few teething problems that could easily be remedied in the second series, says Liam Dooley Tuesday 10 May 2016 ★★★★☆ Image: CBS Supergirl is an upbeat, feel-good television series that follows the story of Kara Zor-El, cousin to the famous Superman, as she struggles to balance her newfound hero status with her life as Kara Danvers: sister to Alex Danvers, assistant to Cat Grant and love-interest to both James Olson and Winn Schott. Despite becoming Supergirl sometime after her cousin had already become the fully-fledged hero of Metropolis, Kara by no means lives in his shadow. The first series, as any opening gambit for a superhero programme does, finds Kara coming to terms with her powers, establishing herself as a hero and learning who she can and cannot trust. In this sense it might seem a little generic, but what makes Supergirl such an interesting show is precisely the traditional style of its protagonist’s story. Nowadays it would seem that everything needs to be ‘gritty’ and ‘dark’, especially in the world of DC adaptations, to be impactful. Supergirl, however, shines out of this as a bright beacon of hope. The Kyrptonian heroes have always been a little too perfect. With a whole array of supernatural powers and with the strength of Gods, there’s only really two ways that they can be dealt with on screen.

    Movie Review: ‘Teen Titans Go! To the Movies’ NEW YORK — Though a mixed bag of good values and a bit of dodgy humor renders it acceptable but not ideal for kids, sharp satire makes the witty animated comedy “Teen Titans Go! To the Movies” (Warner Bros.) a hoot for their elders. As it skewers a broad range of subjects, from some politicians’ preoccupation with the size of their hands to 1980s-style anthems of affirmation, the film wins smiles and laughs at a remarkably steady pace. Even the plot is a vehicle for mockery. A youthful version of Batman’s sidekick Robin (voice of Scott Menville) becomes obsessed by the fact that, unlike all other superheroes, no movie has ever been made about him. The other members of the ensemble of crime fighters Robin leads — shape-shifting Beast Boy (voice of Greg Cipes), human-mechanical mashup Cyborg (voice of Khary Payton), teleporting Raven (voice of Tara Strong) and alien princess Starfire (voice of Hynden Walch) — don’t share his fixation with Hollywood. But, as supportive pals, they go along for the ride. Through their battle with master mind manipulator Slade (voice of Will Arnett) the team acquires the evil nemesis considered essential to their quest. And they eventually convince Tinseltown director Jade Wilson (voice of Kristen Bell) to feature them. But Robin’s ego and the silliness of his pals get in the way, leading to a breakup of the group. As Robin and his buddies strive to be taken seriously, this big-screen adaptation of the Cartoon Network TV series hilariously harpoons a wide range of pop-culture targets in a manner that will amuse grownups.

(DC cancelled the Good-looking Corpse trade that was supposed to come after this one.)The first and longest arc deals with the trade's title, Bizarrogirl, and the story there accomplishes much in allowing Supergirl to move beyond the events of the War of the Supermen and also helping out Bizarro's cuboid Earth (yep, this is the same one from Superman: Escape From Bizarroworld). The adventure is very fun, full of fights and hilarity (as expected from stories involving Bizarros). Plus, the emotions explored here work well in Supergirl facing her doubts and self-inflicted guilt from the aforementioned war.The second arc is an entertaining one-shot with the Legion of Superheros (although a different iteration from previous Supergirl trades).The final arc deals with a seemingly mundane villain, but the context in this final arc finally brings to a closure a previously unresolved thread from earlier Supergirl trades.
