Members of Divine Redeemer Parish community pray for Father Martin O. Moran III’s continued success as he prepares to depart after 5 very productive years in Mount Carmel for the next stop in his priestly journey as pastor of St. Patrick’s Parish, Carlisle. Father Moran leaves with the thanks and gratitude of parishioners for the many projects he spearheaded and shepherded as our pastor. We are grateful that we were able to help him celebrate last month the 30 th anniversary of his ordination as a priest in the Diocese of Harrisburg on May 14, 1988. However, the Mother Maria Kaupas Center, its community and charitable works, and its partnership with Bucknell University in revi- talizing the Mount Carmel and the Lower Anthracite Region may be his most important legacy. Father Marty will remain on the board of the Mother Maria Kaupas Center. He will also serve as Father Fischer’s mentor. As Father Moran departs from Divine Redeemer Parish, we also remember his beautifully crafted homilies and the sincere love he had for his parishioners. Our love and prayers go with him.

It's Been a Great Ride After 5 years, being your pastor here in Divine Redeemer Parish has been one of the greatest rides of my life but like all good songs and all good rides, it comes to an end . It has been an honor to have shared your lives these past five years. Although my stay has been a short one, we cannot meas- ure time in quantity but in quality. I thank you for journeying with me; we've accomplished a great deal. There is still so much of the Lord's work to be done by you and me. I know you will continue to flourish in every aspect of parish life. The spirit here and dedication to Our Blessed Mother is without measure. I cannot begin to thank you enough. I shall never forget the wonderful and endearing people of Divine Redeemer Parish and Mount Carmel area and will hold your many kindnesses in my heart for a very long time. May the good Lord bless and keep you, may His face shine upon you and give you peace. Please pray for me, as I will for you.

JOURNEY BEGINS: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome Father Fischer! ! The parishioners of Divine Redeemer are blessed to be the first parish served by Father Ryan M. Fischer as pastor. He will assume duties as our new shepherd on Monday, June 18, as he begins his fourth year as a priest. Father Fischer, 33, was ordained as a priest by the Most Rev. Ronald W. Gainer in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Harrisburg, June 6, 2015. He has been serving as parochial vicar at St. Joseph’s Parish, Hanover, since June 22, 2015. The middle of three sons, he is a native of the Lancaster area where his parents and brothers still live. He attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish School and was graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School. Although the Fischers faithfully attended Sunday Mass, the future priest did not initially feel called to that vocation. The new pastor’s route to the priesthood was not a direct one. After high school graduation, he took a job at Toys R Us until, as he told The Catholic Witness , one night he felt God calling him to a vocation as priest. Prayer was essential as he discerned his spiritual path. That took him to Franciscan University, Steubenville, Ohio, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 2009. He continued his priestly formation at St. Vincent Seminary, Latrobe. While attending college, Father Fischer held a variety of jobs, He was a security guard, tire changer, assistant handyman, and short order cook. He is no stranger to the area, having spent a summer assignment as a seminarian at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. The Facebook page at St. Joseph’s notes that the outgoing parochial vicar “is a very personable young man who says he enjoys ‘one on one’ conversations the best.” Of interest to sports fans, Father Fischer has been a Philadelphia Eagles fan – even before they won Super Bowl LII.
