Latest National COVID-19 Response News • As of 6 January, 1,038 patients are being treated in medical institutions, of whom 155 are in serious
condition and 30 are in critical condition (MoH on
coronavirus.uz and via Public Relations Dept).
• Checkpoint “Jartepa”, located on the border of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the Urgut district of the Samarkand region, resumed its work for the first time since March 2020. Currently only international cargo transportation is allowed to pass through the checkpoint. Additional information on when people be
allowed to cross the border through this checkpoint will
be publish by the Customs department (podrobno.uz).
• More than 12 thousand passengers from 12 countries
arrived to Uzbekistan by air over the past week with 21 of them being diagnosed with COVID-19 after taking rapid COVID-19 antigen test on arrival. Testing is carried out at airports, train stations and border points at the
