3 FC København - Club Brugge KV Tuesday 27 September 2016 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Parken, Copenhagen Match background

Club Brugge KV will hope lightning strikes in the same place twice when they visit Group G rivals FC København on matchday two. • Club Brugge won 4-0 when they last visited and they will be eager for another positive result against FCK as they bid to bounce back from a 3-0 home loss to Leicester City FC last time out. København, by contrast, made a solid start by drawing 1-1 at FC Porto. • This match pits two players against their former clubs, with Claudemir returning to face København and Tom Høgli welcoming his old side Brugge. Previous meetings • The head-to-head record from five previous encounters reads two wins for FCK, one for Brugge and two draws. • Not once has this fixture produced a home win and Brugge maintained that tradition with their aforementioned 4-0 triumph in Copenhagen in the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League group stage. Lior Refaelov hit a first-half hat-trick and Ruud Vormer added a fourth goal for Club Brugge, who won the group with FCK bottom. • The line-ups on 6 November 2014 were: København: Andersen, Høgli, Jørgensen, Antonsson, Bengtsson (Toutouh 62), Gíslason, Claudemir, Amartey (Delaney 46), Kačaniklić, Jørgensen (Amankwaa 34), De Ridder. Brugge: Ryan, Meunier, Duarte, Mechele, De Fauw, Vormer, Simons, Vázquez (Fernando 65), Refaelov, De Sutter (Castillo 46), Gedoz (Sobota 77). • The clubs had previously drawn 1-1 in Bruges where Daniel Amartey's 89th-minute goal was cancelled out by Víctor Vázquez (90+2). • København prevailed when the sides met in the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round (0-0 h, 3-2 a). and Rafaelov are the only survivors of that second-leg contest in Bruges, although Claudemir was in the FCK starting XI and Høgli on the Brugge bench. • When the clubs first met in the 2008/09 UEFA Cup group stage, César Santin hit the only goal in a 1-0 victory at the Jan Breydelstadion for København, who qualified in third place in the five-team group, with Club Brugge fourth. Match background København • With their 1-1 draw at Porto, Ståle Solbakken's men are unbeaten in seven matches in Europe this term (W4, D3). This includes home wins in the qualifying rounds against Crusaders FC (6-0), FC Astra Giurgiu (3-0) and APOEL FC (1-0). • FCK have not scored in any of their three previous home games against Belgian visitors. This includes a 1-0 loss to R. Standard de Liège on 29 September 2011 in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League group stage. Club Brugge • Brugge are on a six-match winless run on their travels in Europe. Their last victory was a 3-1 success at Beşiktaş JK in the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League round of 16. • The Belgian club have lost only one of their seven previous matches in Denmark (W4 D2 L1). That solitary defeat was on their very first visit – a 2-1 loss at Brøndby IF in the 1988/89 European Cup first round. • Jelle Vossen earned Club Brugge a 1-1 draw at FC Midtjylland on their most recent trip to Denmark in last season's UEFA Europa League group stage. Michel Preud'homme's men had lost the home fixture 3-1. Coach and player links • With Norway's national team, Solbakken appeared in a 2-0 home friendly loss to in April 2000. • Preud'homme was in the Belgium side beaten 3-1 by Denmark in Odense in a June 1988 friendly. As a coach he has a record of W2 D1 L0 on Danish soil with Brugge – including wins at Brøndby, FCK and Aalborg BK in the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League. • Høgli made 76 league appearances for Club Brugge, scoring one goal, between 2011 and 2014, having joined from Norwegian club Tromsö. • Claudemir made 131 Danish Super League appearances for København, scoring ten goals, between 2010 and 2014. He won two league titles and the 2012 , scoring the only goal in the final victory over AC Horsens at Parken Stadium. • Erik Johansson spent the first half of last season in Belgium with KAA Gent, making nine league appearances.

• Other former team-mates: & Stefano Denswil, Ricardo van Rhijn (AFC Ajax 2012–2015) Match facts København • Ján Greguš serves a one-game ban following his dismissal on matchday one. • Federico Santander's second goal of the game salvaged a 2-2 draw at Randers FC on 21 September. • Santander was on target again in the 2-0 home win against AGF Aarhus on Saturday as FCK stretched their unbeaten run to 20 matches in all competitions – a sequence dating back to 22 May. • København have scored in each of their past 22 league encounters. The club record, 23, was set in 2005. Club Brugge • Brugge have recorded three successive wins since matchday one, the latest being 3-2 at R. Mouscron-Péruwelz on Friday. • Two penalties from Vossen, his first goals of the season, helped Brugge to a 3-2 home victory over KAS Eupen on 17 September. • Preud'homme's men also recovered from a goal down to defeat Lommel United 3-1 in the round of 32 three days later. • Björn Engels had an operation on the shoulder he injured against Leicester and has been ruled out for the rest of the year. • Lior Refaelov underwent surgery on his pubis on 22 August and is expected to be sidelined until November.

7 FC København - Club Brugge KV Tuesday 27 September 2016 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Parken, Copenhagen Head coach Ståle Solbakken Date of birth: 27 February 1968 Nationality: Norwegian Playing career: Grue IL, Ham-Kam Fotball, Lillestrøm SK, Wimbledon FC, Aalborg BK, FC København Coaching career: Ham-Kam Fotball, FC København (twice), 1. FC Köln, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC • Discovered at lower-league Grue, Solbakken represented Ham-Kam but made his mark as one of Norway's finest midfielders at Lillestrøm between 1994 and 1997, earning the first of his 58 caps for Norway before an ill-starred move to English side Wimbledon. • A five-month Premier League spell ended with a switch to Denmark's AaB in 1998, where he got his career back on track, starring in the 1998/99 title success. He represented Norway at the 1998 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2000 prior to joining København for 2000/01. • His København playing career lasted just 14 league games before Solbakken suffered a heart attack in training on 13 March 2001; he was revived in an ambulance 12 minutes later. • With a pacemaker fitted he went into coaching with Ham-Kam before unexpectedly being named as Hans Backe's successor at København in 2005 by club chairman Flemming Østergaard, who has Solbakken's playing shirt hanging in his office. • The first of five title successes in his first season vindicated the decision, Solbakken also leading the club to the 2006/07 and 2010/11 UEFA Champions League group stage – reaching the round of 16 in the latter campaign – and the 2008/09 Danish Cup. After short, unsuccessful spells at Köln and Wolves, returned to København in August 2013 following Ariël Jacobs' dismissal and won the Danish league and cup double in 2016. Michel Preud'homme Date of birth: 24 January 1959 Nationality: Belgian Playing career: R. Standard de Liège, KV Mechelen, SL Benfica Coaching career: R. Standard de Liège (twice), KAA Gent, FC Twente, Al-Shabab FC, Club Brugge KV • Won two league titles and lost 1982 European Cup Winners' Cup final to FC Barcelona with Standard. Won the competition six years later having moved on to Mechelen in 1986 – still the last UEFA competition won by a Belgian club. • Signed for Benfica in 1994 and excelled at that year's FIFA World Cup finals – his second – winning the UEFA Goalkeeper of the Year and the IFFHS Best Goalkeeper awards as a result. Retired in 1999, aged 40, after 58 caps for Belgium. • Became Benfica's technical director but within a year had been appointed head coach at Standard. In 2002 he became the club's technical director and chairman of the Belgian Football Association's technical committee. • In 2006 he succeeded Johan Boskamp as Standard coach and brought the club a first league title in 25 years in 2008, cementing his popularity in Liege. Unexpectedly joined Gent and success came in his second season again, Gent winning the 2010 Belgian Cup and finishing second in the league. • Again opted to move on, replacing Steve McClaren at Dutch champions Twente, losing the league title to AFC Ajax but beating the Amsterdam club in the cup final. After a short stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Shabab, returned home with Club Brugge in 2013, winning the Belgian Cup final in 2015 and reaching another final 12 months later; lost that but considerable consolation came with the club's first league title in 11 years.

UEFA Champions League: Did you know? • In 2012/13, Chelsea became the first defending champions to fail to get through a group stage since the UEFA Champions League began. (This record, like the others, includes the seasons between 1999/2000 and 2002/03 that featured a second group stage). In 1992/93, Barcelona were the reigning European Champion Clubs' Cup holders and lost 4-3 on aggregate in the second round to CSKA Moskva. • No team has successfully defended the UEFA Champions League trophy, with Milan (1989, 1990) the last club to win consecutive European Cups. Milan (1994, 1995), Ajax (1995, 1996), Juventus (1996, 1997) and Manchester United (2008, 2009) have all returned to the UEFA Champions League final as holders only to lose. • Lazio goalkeeper Marco Ballotta is the oldest player to compete in the UEFA Champions League having featured against Real Madrid on matchday six in 2007/08 aged 43 years and 252 days. Alessandro Costacurta is the oldest outfield player; the Milan defender was 40 years and 211 days when he played against AEK Athens in 2006/07. • Francesco Totti is the oldest player to score in the competition, aged 38 years and 59 days, in Roma's 1-1 draw at CSKA Moskva on 25 November 2014. Ryan Giggs (37 years 290 days) was the previous record holder. • Celestine Babayaro is the youngest player to have appeared; he was 16 years and 87 days when he started for Anderlecht against Steaua Bucureşti on 23 November 1994. He was sent off in the 37th minute. • Peter Ofori-Quaye is the youngest player to have scored in the UEFA Champions League, aged 17 years and 195 days. He found the net in Olympiacos's 5-1 defeat at Rosenborg on 1 October 1997. • Lionel Messi became the first player to score five goals in a match in Barcelona's 7-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen on 7 March 2012, a feat matched by Shakhtar Donetsk's Luiz Adriano at BATE Borisov on 21 October 2014. Eleven more players, also including Messi, have scored four times in a game, most recently Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid CF on matchday six in 2015/16. • Cristiano Ronaldo set a new record for a UEFA Champions League stage with 11 goals in 2015/16, eclipsing his own mark of nine goals in 2013/14, which Luiz Adriano matched in 2014/15. Zlatan Ibrahimović (2013/14), Ruud van Nistelrooy (2004/05), Filippo Inzaghi and Hernán Crespo (both 2002/03) managed eight. • Messi's hat-trick on matchday one of the 2016/17 competition was his sixth in the competition – one more than Ronaldo. • Barcelona have finished as group winners on 17 occasions, two more than Real Madrid and three more than Manchester United and FC Bayern München. • Bayern München (2 April 2013 to 27 November 2013) and Real Madrid (23 April 2014 to 18 February 2015) jointly hold the record for successive wins in the UEFA Champions League proper with ten. Bayern surpassed the previous mark of nine, set by Barcelona between 18 September 2002 and 18 February 2003. Anderlecht's 12 straight defeats (10 December 2003 to 23 November 2005) is also a competition record. • Six teams have recorded six successive victories in a UEFA Champions League group stage: Milan (1992/93), Paris Saint-Germain (1994/95), Spartak Moskva (1995/96), Barcelona (2002/03, first group stage) and Real Madrid (2011/12 and 2014/15). • Seventeen teams have gone through a UEFA Champions League group stage without picking up a single point, most recently Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC in 2015/16. • Real Madrid scored 20 goals in the 2013/14 group stage, equalling the competition record held jointly by Manchester United (1998/99) and Barcelona (2011/12). Barcelona scored 19 times in the 1999/2000 first group stage, a tally matched by Real Madrid in 2011/12 and 2015/16, plus Bayern in 2015/16. • Only Deportivo La Coruña (2004/05) and Maccabi Haifa (2009/10) have failed to score in a group stage. • BATE Borisov conceded 24 goals in 2014/15, a new record. The previous mark, 22, was held by Dinamo Zagreb (2011/12) and Nordsjælland (2012/13); Malmö FF shipped 21 in 2015/16. • No team has ever gone through a UEFA Champions League group stage without conceding a goal. Milan (1992/93), Ajax (1995/96), Juventus (1996/97 and 2004/05), Chelsea (2005/06), Liverpool (2005/06), Villarreal (2005/06), Manchester United (2010/11), Monaco (2014/15) and Paris Saint-Germain (2015/16) all let in just one. • Before their 3-1 win against Sporting Clube de Portugal on matchday six of the 2006/07 campaign, Spartak Moskva went 22 games without a victory in the competition, a mark Steaua Bucureşti surpassed on matchday six in 2013/14. • The lowest total for a team qualifying from the group stage is six points: Zenit in 2013/14 and AS Roma in 2015/16. Since three points for a win was introduced in 1995/96, eight teams have made it through with seven points: Legia

Warszawa (1995/96), Dynamo Kyiv (1999/2000), Liverpool (2001/02), Lokomotiv Moskva and eventual finalists Juventus (both 2002/03), Rangers and Werder Bremen (2005/06) and Basel 1893 (2014/15). • Napoli failed to qualify from their group with 12 points in 2013/14, the highest total of any team not to reach the next stage when the top two in each section progressed. Dynamo Kyiv (1999/2000), Borussia Dortmund (2002/03 – both second group stage), PSV Eindhoven (2003/04), Olympiacos and Dynamo Kyiv (both 2004/05), Werder Bremen (2006/07), Manchester City (2011/12), Chelsea and CFR 1907 Cluj (both 2012/13), Benfica (2013/14) and FC Porto (2015/16) all missed out with ten points. • Only two teams have ever won the UEFA Champions League on home soil: Borussia Dortmund (1997, final in Munich) and Juventus (1996, final in Rome), while Manchester United lost the 2011 final in London and 12 months later Bayern were beaten in the showpiece in their own stadium, the Fußball Arena München.
