Shine your light on the world. Matthew 5:16

Friday 20th March 2020 Dear Parents Home Learning Arrangements Firstly, may I begin by thanking you for your kind words and support in what has been a challenging time. This has meant so much to us and kept us going. We do not underestimate the privilege of caring for and educating your children. With that comes enormous responsibility which we do not underestimate. We strive each and every day to give of our very best to our children. I extend my thanks to staff. They have been and will continue to be amazing in the duty of care that they afford our children. I am proud to lead a team who go over and above, above and beyond in the care of the community they serve. I thank Governors who have supported the school through these difficult times and will continue to do so in the following weeks. So what happens now? Key Worker Care Thank you for responding to our key worker forms and returning these in the timeframe given. This has allowed us to plan appropriate staffing levels. Our school remains open for the provision of this care. If you made an application, you should have received a response from myself detailing this care. If you have not, please bring this to my attention. Key worker children will be cared for at Hartlip School from Monday 23rd March – Wednesday 1st April 2020. The children attending do not need to wear school uniform. However, they will be going outside so sensible and warm coats and footwear required. They will be able to enjoy a hot meal at lunchtime. Children should arrive at 8.45am and be collected at 3.15pm, unless breakfast or after school club has been booked. They bwill amongst other activities complete home learning tasks. Key worker Children will continue to be cared for from Thursday 2nd April – Wednesday 15th April at Holywell School, Upchurch. The care is provided by Nursery Days staff. Again children do not need to wear uniform. This provision is available from 8am – 6pm. Please note the key worker provision is by bookings only and all applications have been responded to this afternoon as promised.

We are here still to provide your children with teaching and learning to ensure that all make progress. We will send additional materials to support you with this as we come across them. Hot Meals Hot meals will be available daily. If you/your family would like to take advantage of this provision, please do make contact with us and book in advance. You will need to be sure that you have no presenting symptoms and no family members are self-isolating. If you stay on site, we will observe the social distancing etiquette. You are welcome to take a meal away with you Care and Share Box We will facilitate a Care and Share box at school. You are welcome to share any surplus and take for yourselves what you need. Please do feel free to participate. Keeping in touch We are here. The school is open. You can make contact with us:

Do not hesitate to make contact with us if you need us The church is also open for a place of calm and reflection. The Ministry Team are available to support you. Posies are also in church for the children who were unable to be with us today. They are labelled and look beautiful in there. Please collect when you are fit, able, non-isolating and symptom free. Today was poignant. We all met for outside Worship when we distributed our posies to go home to the people who care for us. We also illuminated candles and took them back to our classrooms. They will shine in our classroom windows and throughout school until we return. They symbolise that we will return. We might be down now, but our passion, our creativity, our drive is still there. The candles shine to let the world know that we will be back, bigger and better. We are a family, in good times and bad. So for now, have a restful weekend. We will back with you on Monday, either in person with our key worker children, or virtually, delivering home learning. Until then, take care, stay well and you know where we are if you need us Yours sincerely

Mrs T Jerome - Headteacher
