Thank you to those parents who have been working alongside Mr Cadman, with a special thanks going to Jenny Edwards for all her hard work. We are also hugely grateful to those who have donated plants towards this. We are now developing biodiversity zones at the middle and infant sites. If you would like to donate bee-friendly plants (preferably small shrubs or perennials, not annuals), these could include: Honeysuckle, Bluebell, Bugloss, Anemone Lavender and Yarrow; garden centres will often recommend bee friendly plants if you ask for recommendations! Please drop any donations to the middle site by Saturday morning. We hope many of you can join us for a biodiversity planting day on Saturday 8th June 1000 -12 noon, meeting at the middle site. Summer 2 Learning It may be the last half term of the school year but each year group continues to have exciting, meaningful learning ahead of them, which both inspires a love of learning and encourages a questioning culture: Reception: How can I look after a wonderful garden? Year 1: How can I be a real-life hero? Year 2: What is it like to be beside the seaside? Year 3: How did the Romans change Britain? Year 4: What does biodiversity do for us? Year 5: Was Henry VIII a good king? Year 6: How would my life be different if I lived in France? School Council t-shirt recycle fundraiser Our school council children have a stall at our 'Greener Summer Fair' this year and one of their ideas is to recycle unwanted children's t-shirts, so please take the opportunity to have a clear out; all donations gratefully received! Please drop off in the box provided at your site reception area by Wednesday 12th June. Thank you from the School Councillors and Mrs Pummell for your support! Free Tickets for the Opera The English National Opera is giving Free Tickets to Under 18’s for every opera next season on Fridays, Saturdays and Opening Nights. All information can be found at https://www.eno.org/news/english-national-opera-launch-free-tickets-for-under-18s. The best suggested titles for first time opera goers and school children are probably The Mikado, Madam Butterfly and Carmen. A great opportunity! 2 St Mary’s Church of England School Infants: Middle: Juniors: Amyand Park Road Strafford Road Richmond Road Twickenham Twickenham Twickenham TW1 3HE TW1 3AD TW1 3BA T: 0208 892 5840 T: 0208 249 6836 T: 0208 892 7849 F: 0208 891 1904 F: 0208 607 0420 E: [email protected] www.st-marys.richmond.sch.uk Sensory Needs For parents of children aged up to 12 About the seminar: Sensory Needs is one of the Autism Seminars for Families, which provides information and advice to parents and carers of children and young people with autism or on the pathway to a diagnosis of autism.
