We will be in Qikiqtarjuaq for approximately 24 hours, however everyone on Canada C3 will eat and sleep on the ship. Environmental Impacts Canada C3 Expedition Leader, Geoff Green will work with the Captain of our expedition vessel, the M/V Polar Prince, to follow established visitor guidelines and standards when it comes to visiting areas in the Arctic. All steps will be taken to cause no environmental damage towards the land, water, flora and fauna. Goeff Green will consult the many Canada C3 partners including CWS, Students on Ice experts and the expertise of the Canada C3 participants. Canada C3 has not yet confirmed our participants but we will have local Indigneous people on each leg of our journey to help direct our programming, our education program and guide the expedition during community visits and visits to Migratory Bird Sanctuaries, National Wildlife Areas and other areas. When finalizing out land and Zodiac activities our expedition leader and expedition guides will consultwith our CWS partners, local Indigenous participants, our scientists and other experts in order to mitigate any impacts of ou DETAILS PART 2 Project General Information

The Canada C3 project is an epic journey to celebrate Canada and connect Canadians. Canada C3 is a signature initiative for Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation in 2017. The centrepiece is an epic 150-day sailing journey from Toronto to Victoria via the Northwest Passage. Canada C3 will be in Nunavut between approximately July 28, 2017 and approximately September 5, 2017. Canada C3 will connect Canadians from coast to coast to coast and inspire a deeper understanding of our land, our peoples, and the past, present and future of our country.

Water

Approximately 60 900g per week of water consumed. Canada C3 will have an onboard water maker. There is a freshwater tank with a capacity of 359.24 m3 and a ballast water tank with a capacity of 143.5 m3.

Waste Water (Grey water, Sewage, Other)

Canada C3 will produce waste in the form of sewage (11.2cbm/week) and greywater (105cbm/week). All waste will be disposed of properly according to the ships plan in accordance with Marpol.

Fuel

No fuel will be no storage, refuelling, transfers, disposal or transportation of fuel. Canada C3 will carry 721.75cbm of diesel in 4 tanks for the vessel's engins and generators, 5.15 cbm of lube oil in 1 tank for vessel engins and generators, 5.15 cbm of jet fuel for helicopter turbines, 10 x 200 litre tanks of gasoline for the zodiac's outboard motors. The vessel has is equiped with a helipad therefore we are allowing for the possibility of having a helpicopter. It is highly unlikely a helicopter will be present.
