p. PROLOGUE

On the basis of the eye of wisdom, with the desire to attain greater clarity of the teaching, I will propound these words for my own benefit. While they may be unpleasant for your youthful ears, because they are based on the Arya’s flawless transmission, free from contradiction, they should be readily accepted by all manner of wise men.

LAMA DANG DU KYI KHOR LO LA CHAK TSAL LO!

I pay homage to the and Kalachakra!

KYED PI RIM PAR LEK NE SHING NGAK KYI NU PA THAR CHIN TE ZHI SOK TRIN LI CHU NYI PO THOK PA ME PAR DRUP PAR SHOK

Resting well in the Stage of Generation, and perfecting the power of , may I accomplish without obstructions, the twelve enlightened activities, such as pacification and so forth.

RAL DRI REK DRA CHUD KYI WANG DUD TSI DRE WU RI LU DANG RO TSA NA DANG MIK MEN DANG KANG GYOK DRUP CHEN GYED THOP SHOK

May I manifest the eight mundane — sword-like touch, power of vitality, nectar, fruit, pills, rotsana, eye medicine and swift feet;

OK MIN NE KYI THAR THUK PA JIK TEN PA YI NGÖ DRUP CHOK PUN SUM TSOK PA THAM CHED KUN WED PA MED PAR DRUP PAR SHOK

May I finally reach the Realm of Akanishta— the supreme attainment that manifests for a worldly person; May I accomplish without effort

DI KYANG CHOK PAR MI DZIN CHING TÖ MED ZHI DANG DEN PA YI YID CHE SUM DEN ZAP MÜ LAM DZOK PI RIM PA GOM PAR SHOK

Not being satisfied by even these [siddhis], possessing the fourfold independence, [and] the threefold confidence, may I meditate on the Stage of Completion—the Profound Path.

THUK KYI DOR JE NAM KHA ZHAK YUL DANG YUL CHEN DREL PA CHED TONG NYID NGÖN SUM GYUR PA YI SO SOR DUD PA GOM PAR SHOK

Resting the vajra mind in space, severing the relationship between subject and object, may I meditate on [the branch of] Individual Withdrawal, that is the direct experience of emptiness.

SHE RAP TOK DANG CHOD PA DANG GA DANG YO MED DE WA YI TONG ZUK TAK DU TEN PAR GOM SAM TEN YEN LAK NGÖN GYUR SHOK

By meditating continually and steadily on empty forms, with coarse and refined wisdom, joy and unwavering bliss; may I actualise the branch of Concentration.

YE YON NYI LI GYU WA NYI KAK NI wU MI LAM DU ZHUK DU MIN CHI LI NAM GYAL WA SOK TSOL YEN LAK NGÖN GYUR SHOK

By blocking the two channels of the right sun and left moon, and directing [the winds] into the central channel, may I actualise the branch of Life-Force Control, and be victorious over untimely death.

TE WA NYING KHA TRIN PA DANG TREL WAR THIK LI NE NAM SU SOK NI DRO ONG MED PAR DZIN DZIN PI YEN LAK NGÖN GYUR SHOK

Holding the vital essences as neither coming nor going, in the positions of the drops at the navel, heart, throat and forehead; may I actualise the branch of Retention.

TUM MO YE SHE ME WAR WI DÖD PI LHA THONG ZUK TOK DREL ÖD THRO ZUK LI KHAM SuM TRÖ JE DRIN YEN LAK NGÖN GYUR SHOK

2 By igniting the fire of the primordial wisdom of Inner Heat, seeing the deity of desire [and experiencing] the non-conceptual forms, may I actualise the branch of Recollection, unravelling the three realms from the forms of radiant light.

DÖD PI LHA LA JE CHAK PI SHE DANG SHE CHA YER MED PI MIN GYUR DE WA TSE CHIK PI TING DZIN YEN LAK NGÖN GYUR SHOK

By engaging passionately with this consort, may I actualise the branch of Meditative Absorption; the single-pointed bliss that is immutable and empty of all distinctions between subject and object.

JUNG ZHI RIM GYI TONG PAR THIM TONG PA TSHEN MA NAM CHUR GYUR TSHEN MA NAM PA KUN DEN ZUK ZUK KYANG MIN GYUR DE WAR SHOK

The four elements gradually dissolve into emptiness and emptiness becomes qualified by the enT Signs. May the form endowed with all the aspects of these signs, also become immutable bliss.

MIN GYUR DE WI YE SHE LI NAM KHAR DRO SOK DZU THRUL DANG KHAM SUM WANG CHUK NGÖ DRUP CHOK TSHE DI NYID LI DRUP PAR SHOK

From the primordial wisdom of immutable bliss, comes the supreme attainment of the perfect power over the three realms and the miraculous powers such as flying in space and so forth. May I accomplish these [powers] in this very life.

NAL JOR SUM GYI LAM LA LAP LU NGAK YID SUM DRIP PA JANG CHOD PA SUM GYI THAR CHIN TE DOR JE SUM PO NGÖN GYUR SHOK

Practicing the path of the three yogas; Purifying the three veils of body, speech and mind; Perfecting the three kinds of conduct; May I actualise the three .

NYEN DRUP YEN LAK ZHI JANG SHING DOR JE ZHI YI DAM TSHIK TEN NE KAP ZHI YI THRUL PA ZAD KU ZHI NGÖN DU GYUR WAR SHOK

Training in the four branches of approach and accomplishment; Relying on the commitments of the four vajras; Exhausting the delusions of the four moments;

3 May I actualise the four bodies.

LAM NGA MA LU LEK PAR TROD CHEN NGA RIM GYI NGÖN DU GYUR PHUNG PO NGA YI DRIP PA JANG YE SHE NGA PO THOP PAR SHOK

Correctly crossing all of the five paths, the five wisdom-eyes gradually become manifest and the five aggregates are purified from obscurations; May I attain the five primordial wisdoms.

YEN LAK DRUK LA LEK PAR JANG RIK DRUK DAM TSHIK DOM PA TEN KHAM DRUK DRIP PA DREL WA YI RIK DRUK YER MED NGÖN GYUR SHOK

Perfectly training in the six branches by relying on the commitments of the six families, May I actualise the indivisibility of the six families which are free from the obscurations of the six realms.

NAL JOR NE KAP CHU PO TROD PA ROL CHIN PA CHU LA LAP WANG CHU TOP CHU NGÖN DU GYUR CHI NANG NAM CHU DAK PAR SHOK

Progressing along the ten yogic stages; Training in the ten perfections; Actualising the ten powers and ten strengths; May I purify the ten outer and inner aspects.

PHO WA CHU NYI GYU WA GAK TEN DREL YEN LAK CHU NYI DZAD RAB GA LA SOK CHU NYI PO TSHE DI NYID LA TROD PAR SHOK

When the twelve winds cease to circulate, the twelve links of dependent origination are exhausted. In this very life, may I traverse the twelve [levels] such as Very Joyful and so forth.

TEN DON NAM PA CHU NYI DEN DE NYID NAM PA CHU DRUK RIK YON TEN KUN DZOK SANG GYE NYID TSHE DI NYID LA NYUR THOP SHOK

Possessing the twelve aspects of true reality; Seeing the sixteen aspects of suchness; In this very life, may I quickly attain the perfection of all good qualities—.

RANG GYI NGÖN GYI NYE PA YI TSHE DIR JANG CHUP MA THOP NA'ANG GYAL DANG GYAL DRI THUK JE YI PHO MA THAK DU THOP PAR SHOK

4 Due to my own previous wrong doings, even if I do not attain enlightenment in this life, by the compassion of the Buddhas and , may I achieve [enlightenment] in the moment of death.

CHI TSHE SANG GYE JANG SEM DANG PA WO NAL JOR MA TSHOK KYI CHOD PA NAM PA DU MA YI SUM NI KHA CHOD THRID PAR SHOK

At the moment of death, may I be welcomed with many forms of from a host of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Dakas and Dakinis, and be guided to the celestial realms.

DE MA THAK DU TING DZIN THOP DRIP PA KUN PANG YON TEN DZOK SA NAM THAR CHIN SANG GYE NYID KED CHIK DE LA THOP PAR SHOK

The immediate attainment of concentration, the abandonment of all obscurations and the perfection of all qualities; May I attain Buddhahood in this very instant— the accomplishment of all grounds;

JI KYAN KYE WA DUNG GYI BAR DOR JE CHANG GI GO PHANG NYID DON MI ZA WAR DRUP GYUR CHIK DE LI ZHEN DU MA GYUR CHIK

No matter what, may I definitely achieve the state of ajradharaV itself within a span of seven lifetimes. May I not become anything other than that.

DAK KYANG KYE WA THAM CHED DU LO DEN RIK ZANG NGA GYAL MED LA MA LA GU NYING JE DEN DUM KHOR DAM TSHIK LA NE SHING

In all my lives, may I also be wise; [born] in a good family; without pride; devoted to my lama; endowed with compassion; and abiding in the commitments of Kalachakra.

DOR JE DRIL WU TAK DU CHANG ZAP CHING GYA CHI CHÖ DON CHING DAM TSHIK ZHI PO TEN PA DANG RIM NYI ZAP LAM GOM PAR SHOK

Always holding a vajra and bell [and] reciting the profound and extensive Dharma; May I rely on the four commitments and meditate on the profound path of the two stages.

5 DI NE JANG CHUP NYING PÜ BAR LA MA DUM KYI KHOR LO YI MAD JUNG DOR JE THEK PA DANG MI DREL TSHUL ZHIN DRUP PAR SHOK

From now until I reach the essence of enlightenment, may I properly accomplish [all things] without separation from the wonderful of the [inseparable] Lama and Kalachakra.

DRUP LA BAR CHED MIN JUNG ZHING DI NE KYE DUN LA SOK PAR LA MA PAL DEN DUM KHOR GYI ZHAP DUL SHI TSUK NE PAR SHOK

Practicing without interruptions, from now on in these seven births and so forth, may I place the crown of my head at the feet of the glorious —Kalachakra.

GANG TSHE GON LA TA WA DANG JUNG ZAD DRI WAR DOD NA YANG CHOM DEN DUM KYI KHOR LO NI GEK MED PAR YANG THONG WAR SHOK

Whenever seeking a protector and also when longing for answers, may I see without obstructions, the exalted one—Kalachakra.

CHOK CHU NAM KHA THA TUK PI SEM CHEN MA LU DON GYI CHIR THUB WANG CHOD PA JI TA WAR DAK GI CHOD PA'ANG DE TAR SHOK

For the benefit of all sentient beings throughout the limits of space in the ten directions, just as the Buddha Shakyamuni practiced, so too, may I also practice.

DAK GI LU DANG LONG CHOD DANG DU SUM GE WA THAM CHED KYANG SEM CHEN KUN LA MIN GYUR NE DREL DANG YUN DU DE WAR SHOK

My body and enjoyments, as well as all of the virtues of the three times, having ripened for all sentient beings, may these be of great benefit, now and forever.

SEM CHEN NAM KYI MI GI TSHOK DUK NGEL GYAM TSO GYUR GYUR PA DE KUN DAK LA MIN GYUR NE DUK NGEL RIN CHEN WANG POR SHOK

That which causes an ocean of suffering,

6 [and] the accumulation of the non-virtues of sentient beings; from the ripening of all of these in me, may [I see] suffering [as] the most precious of jewels.

GANG ZHIK DAK NI THONG WA DANG DAK MING THÖ DANG DREN PA DANG DED DANG GA WAR CHED PA KUN TSHE DIR DOR JE CHANG THOP SHOK

Whoever sees me, hears or recalls my name, and develops faith and joy [in this], may they achieve the state of in this very life.

GANG DAK NGA LA MÖ PA DANG DEK TSÖ MI NYEN JOD PA DANG THRAK DOK NGEN SEM CHANG WA KUN TSHE DIR SANG GYE NYUR THOP SHOK

Whoever despises me, beats me, insults me, or is jealous and has evil intentions [towards me], may they quickly achieve Buddhahood in this life.

DAK LA TEN NE NAM DU YANG ZHEN LA NÖD PAR MA GYUR CHIK GO SUM GANG DANG GANG TSAM PA ZHEN LA PHEN PAR GYUR WAR SHOK

Whenever [something happens] in dependence on me, may it never bring harm to others. Whatever actions [arise from my] three doors, may they bring benefit to others.

BUM PA ZANG PO PAK SAM SHING YID ZHIN NOR BU JI TA WAR SEM CHEN NAM KYI DÖD PI DON THAM CHED DAK LA JUNG WAR SHOK

Like a wish-fulfilling vase, wish-fulfilling tree, and a wish-fulfilling jewel, whatever sentient beings’ desire, may I have [the qualities to fulfill] all [their wishes].

GAL DE ZHEN LA PHEN GYUR NA RANG GI DON LA TÖ MED PAR NGEN SONG SUM GYI DUK NGEL YANG ZHEN KYI DON DU ZÖD PAR SHOK

If there is benefit for others, without concern for my own welfare, despite the suffering of the three lower realms, may I endure [it] for their benefit.

MI ZANG LI KYI THU TOP KYI MI KHOM NE SU KYE GYUR NE

7 NYON MONG NED KYI DUNG PA LA CHÖ KYI DUD TSI CHIN PAR SHOK

May I give the elixir of Dharma [to those who], due to the power and strength of their negative actions, are born into states without leisure, and are tormented by sickness and afflictions.

LA MA KON CHOK SUM PO DANG KHYED PAR PA DEN DUM KHOR LA MA DAD SO NAM MEN PA NI CHÖ KYI PHONG PAR GYUR PA NAM

To those who lack Dharma, with little and are lacking interest in the Lama, the Three Jewels, and especially in the Glorious Kalachakra;

DAK GI NA TSHOK THAP KUN GYI LEK PAR THRID DE LA MA DANG KON CHOK SUM DANG DUM KHOR LA DANG DRE LAM LA GÖD GYUR CHIK

By leading [them] properly with many diverse methods, may I inspire [them] to have faith in the Lama, The Three Jewels and Kalachakra. May I [establish them] on the path.

LA MA LHAR JI CHIN LAP DANG ZAP LAM RIM NYI GOM PI THÜ NGÖ DRUP NAM PA NYI THOP NA SEM CHEN MIN PI THU DEN SHOK

Through the power of the blessings of the Lama and the , and by meditating on the two stages of the profound path, when I attain the [common and uncommon] siddhis, may I have the power to ripen all sentient beings.

DAK NI CHI WI DU KYI TSHE DIK DANG GYÖD PA MED PA DANG WANG PO NAM NI SAL WA DANG TING DZIN NGANG NE PHO WAR SHOK

At the moment of passing from this life, may I pass into a state of , without faults, nor regrets, and where my sense become brighter.

PA WO NAL JOR MA TSHOK KYI ME TOK GYAL TSEN DUK THOK TE ROL MO DRA NYEN LÜ CHOD CHING KHA CHOD NE SU THRID PAR SHOK

May the gatherings of dakas and dakinis, carrying flowers, victory banners and parasols, offering music and melodious songs,

8 lead me to the celestial realms.

NGE PAR CHOK DU MIN GYUR WI DE WI TING DZIN RAP THOP NE KHYAP DAK BUK KYI DRANG PHER WI NE DANG NYE NE SOK DRÖD SHOK

Having attained the blissful samadhi, which is definitely and completely unchanging; because it is like an all-pervasive breath, may I progress [from] one [pure] realm [to the next].

NOR BU TSE MOR NYI DUL TEN TSUK TOR JANG SEM DA WA NYA MIK NE NYA NGEN DE PA CHOK DZOK PI SANG GYE THOP PAR SHOK

Stabilising the sun element at the tip of the jewel, [and] the full moon of at the crown of the head, may I attain perfect Buddhahood— The Supreme, Non-Abiding .
