Using Technology for Education in Thailand: Ramkhamhaeng University

Abstract - This paper presents an overview of education in Thailand and how to use technology and ICT for teaching and learning in each types of education classified by the National Education Act of 1999, to serve the learners all over the country for the maximum purposes. The main focus is on Ramkhamhaeng University, an open- admission institution, that is why it is necessary to make maximum use of the latest technology complied with ICT in terms of the university’s management, teaching and learning systems, including the eTesting program to evaluate the student’s performance. The paper will emphasize on various technologies usage which combine several communications media for the purpose of teaching and learning within the context of distance education, both throughout the country as well as overseas. As the University has launched a number of programs of study for students in Bangkok and its 23 regional campuses, Ramkhamhaeng University has to supply both on-site teaching and a “virtual” classroom via satellite and internet including eLearning. The University has developed in a rapid and efficient manner in terms of academic standards, curriculum development, research, and teaching and learning systems, as well as quality assurance, all with the cooperation of members of the University’s academic community and by the skillful USASG of technology in the service of education.
