LEN EUROPEAN SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS BERLIN 2014 Es ist soweit: 12 Jahre nach einer gelungenen und stimmungs- vollen Europameisterschaft dürfen wir erneut die euro päischen Topathletinnen und -athleten in den Disziplinen Schwimmen, Freiwasserschwimmen, Wasserspringen und Synchronschwimmen in Berlin begrüßen. Diesmal steht nicht nur die Schwimm- und Sprunghalle im Europapark zur Verfügung, in der die Wettkämpfe im Wasser- springen und Synchronschwimmen stattfinden werden, sondern auch das Velodrom. Wo sonst Radfahrer ihre Bahnen ziehen, werden in einem temporären Becken die Schwimmerin- nen und Schwimmer um Medaillen und Titel antreten. Mit der Regattastrecke in Grünau wurde auch für die Wettkämpfe im Freiwasserschwimmen eine herrliche Kulisse gefunden. Das OK, das Team von Greve SMS, die Vertreter der Fach - sparten und zahlreiche freiwillige Helfer haben intensiv daran gearbeitet, dass diese EM zu einem ganz besonderen Highlight wird. Mit dieser Broschüre möchten wir Ihnen das deutsche Team vorstellen, bekannte und noch unbekannte Gesichter, die hoffnungsvoll im eigenen Land an den Start gehen und diesen Vorteil hoffentlich für sich nutzen können. Ich zweifle nicht daran, dass die Stimmung phantastisch werden wird und unsere Sportlerinnen und Sportler lautstark unterstützt werden, nicht zuletzt von der Deutschen Schwimmjugend, die in Berlin das 7. Internationale DSV-Jugendcamp durchführt. Wer keine Gelegenheit hat, die Wettkämpfe live in der Hauptstadt zu verfolgen, kann auf eine umfangreiche TV-Übertragung zurückgreifen, die hoffentlich ebenso viel Spaß machen wird. Ich drücke unseren Athletinnen und Athleten fest die Daumen und hoffe, dass sie ihre Träume verwirklichen können. Ihnen allen wünsche ich schöne und unvergessliche Tage im Verlauf dieser Europameisterschaften.
