CHRONOLOGY OF FOOTBALL IN &

1905 The first football club founded – Ynysddu Albion AFC (YAAFC).

1915 Club changed name to Ynysddu Crusaders AFC (YCAFC).

1936 YCAFC winners of the County FA Cup.

1939 YCAFC disbanded at the outbreak of World War II.

1946 Ynysddu Welfare AFC (YWAFC) formed, following the merger of ‘wartime’ clubs, Ynysddu Celtic AFC and Cwmfelinfach Rangers AFC.

1947 YWAFC became members of the South Amateur Football League (SWAFL).

1948 YWAFC winners of the Monmouthshire County FA Amateur Cup.

1963 Crusaders AFC, the junior football club, founded. Founder Members of the & District Junior Football League in its inaugural season of 1964/1965.

1978 Cwmfelinfach Colts AFC founded and joins the North Football League.

1988 YWAFC champions of SWAFL Division Two, and promoted to Division One for the first time. A stay of four seasons in the top flight.

1997 YWAFC 50 year’s continuous membership of SWAFL.

2002 YWAFC champions of SWAFL Division Two, and promoted to Division One for the second time. A further stay of eight seasons in the top flight.

2003 Cwmfelinfach Colts AFC & Fleur-de-Lys AFC merged into Crusaders (Seniors) AFC.

2005 To acknowledge the co-operation between the two local clubs, YWAFC becomes Ynysddu Welfare Crusaders AFC (YWCAFC).

2008 Formal amalgamation of YWCAFC and Crusaders (Seniors) AFC into Ynysddu Crusaders FC (YCFC).

2012 YCFC voluntarily leaves the SWAFL after 65 consecutive seasons (the league’s oldest member club & the last remaining of the eight Gwent clubs to have participated in this league) and transfers to the Gwent County FA League (GCFAL) Division Three.

2013 YCFC champions of GCFAL Division Three and promoted to Division Two. The club name changes to Ynysddu Welfare Football Club (YWFC) w.e.f. Season 2013/2014.

2018 YWFC champions of GCFAL Division Two and promoted to Division One. YWFC winners of the Gwent County FA Amateur Cup.
