DAY 6 Marietta / McDonough A full day experiencing the true South starts with the Atlanta History Center. There is a guided tour and free time to explore on your own. Optional tours are available for the Swan House and Smith Family Farm. Lunch will be at the famous Mary Mac’s Tea Room and then we are off for a guided tour of the Road to Tara Museum. A step-on guide takes us on the Gone with the Wind City Tour of Jonesboro. Arriving at Stately Oaks Plantation, we enjoy a guided tour of the plantation and grounds. Our day is complete with dinner at the plantation in the Bethel One-Room Schoolhouse where a signature dinner is provided. DAY 7 McDonough / Our day starts with a step-on guide joining us for a guided tour of the military prison at the Andersonville National Historic Site. Following will be time to explore the POW Museum. After lunch there is a guided tour of the Drummer Boy Museum, concluding with free time for shopping and touring on your own in the historic town of Andersonville. DAY 11 North Charleston / Orangeburg Today starts with a guided tour of Fort Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. The tour also includes a cruise of Charleston Harbor. Later, lunch will be served at Boone Hall Plantation, followed by a guided tour of the plantation home and an open air wagon tour of the grounds. Ample time is given to explore the slave quarters, gardens, and a presentation at Gullah Theatre.
