The 59th ADAC Westfalenfahrt on Saturday, March 31st, 2012 will be the start of the new Endurance Championship Nürburgring season. Dörr Motorsport has a stronger position than ever.

International Professionals in the McLaren MP4-12C GT3

Team principal Rainer Dörr is the only Mc Laren dealer in the world who is actively competing in two of the British super sports cars at the race track. This season, the Dörr Motorsport team relies on the skills of Rudi Adams, Stefan Aust, Chris Goodwin, Arno Klasen, Peter Kox, Arndt Meier, Henri Moser, Peter Posavac and Kai Riemer.

McLaren test driver Chris Goodwin probably has the most experience with the GT3 car from Woking, England. Last year, the Englishman competed for Dörr Motorsport in the 24-hour race. Arno Klasen is one of the most successful pilots of all time, scoring 26 victories in the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring.

Dutch Peter Kox makes a comeback in the McLaren after competing in the in a McLaren F1 GTR in 1996 and 1997 and scoring the third place in 1997. Later, Kox worked as a factory driver for and won the 2010 ADAC GT Masters Championship title. Arndt Meier began his career in the ChampCar series in 1997 and 1998, which used to be the US-American equivalent of Formula 1. After returning to Europe he won the 2004 VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring. In 2011, Meier competed for Dörr Motorsport in the 24h race.

Henri Moser from Switzerland is also a well-known name in international GT sports. After winning the 2007 FIA GT3 European Championship the law student competed in the FIA GT1 World Championship from 2008 to 2010.

In the past, Kai Riemer attracted attention setting fast lap times in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup; Rudi Adams has become an established member of the team from Frankfurt as a Pirelli test driver.

The line-up of pilots is completed by Peter Posavac and Stefan Aust who have been competing for Dörr Motorsport for many years.

“The Car Has Potential”

The McLarens completed their first laps at the Nürburgring Nordschleife during the VLN test and tuning session on March 24th. After the day of tests Arno Klasen said, “The car has potential. That has become clear after the first tests. We still have to modify the setup but the car makes a solid impression. Nevertheless, our highest priority is to complete the first race of the season.” Kai Riemer added, “The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 makes a great impression. We were able to show an excellent performance right from the start. Now I am very excited for the season to start.”

Besides the two British super sports cars, team principal Rainer Dörr and his team will also compete in a BMW M3, a GT4 class car, this year. After driving a BMW Z4 M Coupé last season, Uwe Ebertz, will share the cockpit with Stefan Kenntemich and Sigbert Nicolaides.

Newly Formed Rookie Team

There have been changes in the ADAC rookie team during the winter. After competing at the Nordschleife in the BMW Mini in 2011, Maximilian Schwarz and Felix Körbel will share the car with Andre Kursim for the 2012 VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring season. Stéphane Kox, the daughter of Peter Kox, will also drive the BMW Mini during the new season. Prior to this she will be gradually prepared for the challenges at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Rainer Dörr is full of anticipation for the new motorsports season. “The test drivers’ first impressions are positive. However, we will still have a lot to learn at the start of the season. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to that because it seems that we and our partners were able to put together a great package for 2012.”
