Rabodirect PRO12 PREVIEW 2013/14 PREVIEW ROUND 18 ROUND 18 FIXTURES RaboDirect PRO12 PREVIEW 2013/14 Round 18: 28-30 March 2014 PREVIEW ROUND 18 The pick of the round must be the sell-out Leinster v Munster game at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday. The two teams currently occupy the home Play-Off slots, but Munster must know that any slip up in Dublin could see third placed Ulster overtake them in the search for that end of season home advantage. The game at Scotstoun on Friday night is also critical to the Play-Offs; Glasgow Warriors currently sit in 5th place in the table just 4 points behind their opponents, Ospreys, but with two games in hand and a better winning record. Should they beat the Welshmen, Glasgow will take over their spot in the Play-Off zone with the added advantage of an extra 10 points to play for to consolidate their position. Sunday’s game, whilst not directly affecting the Play-Off Zone, does have implications in the table - Connacht’s run of four successive victories has lifted them up five places to 7th and they travel to Scarlets in the knowledge that a win, depending on the scoreline, could see them reside in the top half of the table for the first time since the opening round this season. ROUND 18 FIXTURES Friday 28 March GLASGOW WARRIORS v OSPREYS At Scotstoun Stadium, 7.35pm. The most recent RaboDirect PRO12 fixture featuring the Warriors to yield a try bonus point for either side came when the Ospreys last visited Scotstoun in round 21 last season. Ospreys have slipped to four straight away defeats in all competitions and have not won outside of Wales since a trip to Connacht in the PRO12 in September. The Welshmen’s only victory in their last eight visits to Scotland since 2009 came when they beat Edinburgh 15-14 at Murrayfield in February 2012. Glasgow have won their last five contests with Ospreys whilst the Welsh region’s most recent victory in Glasgow came on a trip to Firhill in September 2009. Edinburgh Rugby’s only victory in their last five matches in all tournaments came against Ospreys at Meggetland on 28th February. The Scotsmen have picked up just two league points away from home this season, both losing bonus points, in their last two matches at Connacht and at Scarlets. Edinburgh have won three of their last four matches against Italian opposition. The two sides have met on seven previous occasions with the Scotsmen having the slight edge by four wins to three. • Rabodirect PRO12 : PREVIEW 2012/13
RaboDirect PRO12 : PREVIEW 2012/13 Round 18: 22ND & 23RD March 2013 ROUND 18 PREVIEWS With just five rounds left to decide which teams will contest the Play-Offs, there is a new leader of the RaboDirect PRO12 with Glasgow Warriors taking over the mantle from Ulster, whilst for the fourth round in succession, Ospreys swapped places with Scarlets in the Play-Off Zone. Three of those teams are in action on Friday night; Ulster traveling to Edinburgh, Ospreys hosting Welsh rivals Newport Gwent Dragons, and Scarlets in Italy to face Zebre. Edinburgh can do their Scottish neighbours, Warriors, a favour if they can defeat Ulster however their record against the Ulstermen is not great. Meanwhile Ospreys and Scarlets must both be looking to come away with maximum points from opponents who are sitting at the wrong end of the table in their bids to reach the Play-Offs. The leaders, Glasgow Warriors, are not in action until Saturday, and are the only one of the potential Play-Off teams to face another side from the top half of the table when the visit Leinster at the RDS. Munster will also be looking for maximum points in the All-Irish clash against Connacht if they are to make a final push for the knockout stages. With just two points separating the top three teams in the table, whilst it is even closer for the final Play Off spot, there is definitely all to play for still as the RaboDirect PRO12 enters its closing stages. ROUND 18 FIXTURES Friday 22 March EDINBURGH RUGBY v ULSTER At Murrayfield, 7.30pm.

  • RD PRO12 Peview Round 9
RaboDirect PRO12 PREVIEW 2012/13 Round Nine: 23rd – 25th November 2012 ROUND NINE PREVIEWS With the completion of their postponed Round 4 game against Zebre, Ulster have now pulled out a six points lead at the top of the RaboDirect PRO12 table. They are in action in Italy again on Friday night when they face Benetton Treviso at Stadio Monigo, and will be looking to extend their unbeaten record in the country as well as maintaining their 100per cent start to this season’s RaboDirect PRO12. Current RaboDirect PRO12 champions, Ospreys, are also in action on Friday night travelling to Murrayfield to play Edinburgh Rugby. Ospreys sit just outside the top four due to poorer points difference than Munster, should results go their way this weekend it could be the first time they have entered the Play-Off zone this season. The match of the day must be the encounter at Scotstoun where third placed Glasgow Warriors must overcome the reigning European champions, Leinster if they are to set a new Warriors record in this tournament of seven successive wins. The final game on Friday night is in Wales when Newport Gwent Dragons host Connacht. Both teams have had a mixed start to their seasons, and a win would be a welcome boost to their campaigns. The round concludes with two games on Sunday, Munster v Scarlets and Zebre v Cardiff Blues. After having narrowly missed out to Ulster last weekend, Zebre are still looking for their first win in the completion, and will be hoping Blues poor form continues for one more week.

In 2017 we continue to see economic improvements in Ireland, North and South. Unemployment is falling, new businesses are being created and a renewed sense of confidence is establishing itself after the ravages of the Great Recession. However, we cannot afford to overlook the considerable challenges Ireland, North and South, could face, not least as a result of Brexit. Despite the progress that has been made, many sectors of society remain untouched by the recovery and many others are still feeling the wounds of such a difficult period. To help strengthen society, the Irish not-for-profit sector plays a critical role.

  • A Note from the Headmaster Top Stories SNOW BLANKETS
Lent term: Week 4 News 29th January 2021 A note from the Headmaster It was a joy to see boarders snowballing and building snowmen on the school lawn last Sunday – a reminder of the importance for boys to be able to let off steam outdoors, which is more important than ever, given the restrictions that lockdown has imposed on us. Next week is Mental Health Week and we are encouraging all the boys to take time away from their screens and do something creative, indoors or outdoors, in line with our “Express yourself” theme. The options for creativity are boundless and we ask that boys take a photo or two of their endeavours and share them with their tutor and tutor group for discussion during the week. The Rotary competitions are also a great chance for our boys to submit some of their creative work for a prize. Of course, there is so much creative endeavour going on already, as this week’s newsletter shows. I loved the first edition of The Happy Times; well done to the Wye Dean boys! Top stories SNOW BLANKETS MONMOUTH AND BRIGHTENS UP THE DAILY EXERCISE Snowfall lent a particularly picturesque look to the school site last weekend and the crisp downfall certainly brightened up the views on everyone's daily exercise. Whether it was snowball fights at Chapel House or a frosty run on the Kymin, it was yet another reminder of what a lovely part of the world Monmouth is in. OLD MONMOTHIAN PICKED FOR WALES’ SIX NATIONS SQUAD Former Monmouth schoolboy, Hallam Amos, has been picked in Wales’ rugby squad for this sea- son’s Six Nations campaign.
