SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

$3,000 Fred Trotter Scholarship – Sponsored by HMAA

Eagle Scout Fred Trotter was a dedicated supporter of in and served as a trustee of the James Campbell Estate. He was a direct descendent of the Estate’s namesake and began his career at a Lihue plantation. He rose to become a prominent businessman in Hawaii, serving on many non-profit boards.

This scholarship is awarded to the top all-around Eagle Scout and essay.

$3,000 Eagle Project Scholarship – Sponsored by a grateful Eagle Alumnus who recognizes the impact of Scouting in his life and in the community.

The Eagle Scout Service Project is both the pinnacle and capstone accomplishment toward attaining the highest rank in Scouting. It demonstrates leadership, perseverance, and commitment to community service and Scouting.

This Scholarship is awarded to the Eagle Project that showcases the greatest leadership by an Eagle Scout.

ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

• Applicants must have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout between 2019 and 2020 • Both scholarship recipients must attend the Eagle Scout Recognition Banquet on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 5 PM at Country Club o Scholarship recipients will be asked to speak for 2-5 minutes at the Banquet as representatives of the 2019-2020 Class of Eagle Scouts • Applicants must submit 1 combined application for both scholarships with the below attachments to [email protected] by Friday, March 6, 2020: o Eagle Scout Scholarship Application o Resume that includes contact information, education, academic achievements, sports, clubs/activities, and awards/significant accomplishments o Essay written by Eagle Scout on how Scouting and the journey to Eagle has impacted his or her life (not to exceed 500 words). o Applicants are encouraged to submit photos from his or her Eagle Service Project (optional)

REVIEW PROCESS

Aloha Council’s NESA Scholarship Committee will review all applications and make final selection by Friday, March 13, 2020. Winners of scholarships will be notified of the selection results by email and the recipients will be announced at the Eagle Scout Recognition Reception on Saturday, April 11, 2020.

Scholarships will be granted in the awardee’s first year of secondary education.
