A Note from Fr. Jeff Horejsi ….. World Mission Sunday, this year on the weekend of October 20-21, is our annual worldwide Eucharistic celebration for the Missions and missionaries of the world. Francis reminds us that, “Each one of us is called to reflect on this fact: ‘I am a mission on this Earth; that is the reason why I am here in this world’ (Evangelii Gaudium 273).” We encourage our parishioners to answer their mission call on that Sunday through prayer and generous sacrifice to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. Please use your Mission Sunday envelope in your packet. I hope to see many Area Faith Community parishioners at the Matt Birk event this Sunday, Oct. 14 at 5:30 pm at St. Philip’s. I believe he will have an inspirational message for us.

St. John’s Maintenance Items We have a couple of projects that we need your help with. The shingles at the rectory were in dire need of repair. They were replaced at a cost of a little over $10,300.00. In Addition the parking lot at the education center is in disrepair. We had to remove and replace the entrance at a cost of $9,210.00. We are having all the cracks filled this fall for $3,790.00. We also plan to have the lot chip sealed next summer. Estimates for that this year are around $13,000-$14,000. In all we are looking at projects that cost us $36,300.00-$37,300.00. We do have some funds available for what we have done, but we need to raise as much as we can for these projects. If you are willing to donate please mark your check as “Rectory Roof/Ed Center Parking lot”. Thank you for your generosity. Do You Know Someone Who Needs a Prayer Shawl? Members of the Shepherd of Souls Prayer Shawl Ministry have been busy knitting and crocheting prayer shawls for you. There are many in our area faith community and community at large that may be in need of a prayer shawl. Do you know someone who needs one? Who receives a shawl? Actually, anyone who is in need of a warm, loving hug: those suffering from an illness, facing surgery, or experiencing the death of a loved one, as well as those celebrating great joy in their lives, maybe a new baby! Who is making these shawls? We are fortunate to have committed and talented crochetters and knitters who prayerfully make these shawls. They pray for those who will receive them; for their comfort, for needed courage in time of stress, for strength during the challenges of life and living, and for care and love from our collective parishes. How can you get a prayer shawl for someone? Listed below are the contact persons for each of our parishes who will gladly help you select a shawl for giving. Included with each shawl will be information about our ministry, prayers, and the name of the person who made your shawl. Prayer Shawls are also available through the office at St. Philip’s Church in Litchfield. If you need a shawl for someone, whether they are in our area or not, whether they are in our parish or not, or if they live miles away, these shawls are ready and waiting to be given or sent away. Within our area faith community there are many who could use a warm hug from caring parishioners. If you know of those in need, please contact these people:
