¡ Objective: Transform North-East Corner of & from its current cluttered, haphazard state into a beautiful, usable public space for the community. ¡ Partners: § Wellington West Business Improvement Area § Hintonburg Community Association § Community Housing § City of Ottawa § Mainstreets Revitalization Initiative

¡ Early 2018: Wellington West BIA with support of Councillor Jeff Leiper, applied for Ontario Mainstreets Revitalization Initiative grant. ¡ Hintonburg Community Association has been actively involved from the beginning. ¡ We received preliminary approval for a grant of $55,000 to carry out improvements here. ¡ In order to secure funding, WWBIA was asked to provide concept drawings/cost estimates. ¡ Colizza Bruni Architecture was engaged to help us develop these. ¡ Ottawa Community Housing enthusiastically supports the idea; offered to cover Architects’ fees and help with project costs.

¡ Most of the project costs will be covered by the $55,000 OMRI grant. ¡ OCH has indicated they could be willing to cover re-paving and some other project costs (to be confirmed). ¡ WWBIA will cover ongoing landscaping maintenance costs for this plaza. ¡ WWBIA also has access to a Capital Reserve fund if necessary. ¡ We welcome the City of Ottawa to consider any further upgrades or contributions.
