POSTGAME NOTES & QUOTES 6, COLORADO AVALANCHE 3 FEBRUARY 5, 2019

First Star TEAM NOTES Josh Anderson (1g) The Avalanche concluded its 2018-19 season series against Colum- bus, finishing 0-2-0 against the Blue Jackets. Second Star Erik Johnson (1g, 1a) Columbus’s 53 seconds into the opening period is the fastest goal allowed by the Avalanche to start a game this season. Third Star Pierre-Luc Dubois (2g) INDIVIDUAL NOTES

Erik Johnson recorded his second multi-point game of the season (last: TEAM STATS Oct. 6 vs. Philadelphia). Avalanche Nikita Zadorov notched his fifth goal of the season and has registered Shots: 30 a point in consecutive games for the first time this campaign, matching his career-long point streak (7x - last: Feb. 26-28, 2018). Zadorov ranks Power Play: 0-4 second among Avs defensemen in goals. Of Zadorov’s eight points (5g, 3a) this season, three (2g, 1a) have come in his last seven outings since Kill: 1-2 returning from an injury.

Faceoffs: 53% Matt Calvert matched a season high with four hits (3x - last: Jan. 9 at Calgary). Columbus Samuel Girard notched his third goal of the season and is now one Shots: 37 marker shy of matching his goal total from his rookie campaign in 2017-18. Power Play: 1-2 Pierre-Luc Dubois finished with two goals to bring his season total to Penalty Kill: 4-4 21, becoming the first player in Blue Jackets franchise history to record consecutive 20-goal seasons to begin his career with the club. Faceoffs: 47% QUOTES Colorado LW On The Avs’ Defense Contributing On Offense: “In terms of scoring Avalanche Schedule goals, that’s awesome. I mean, we need that and that was great. You Wednesday know as a group, we still made some bonehead mistakes at times. Feb. 6, 2019 That’s just uncalled for, forwards and defensemen, so I think we’re all Team flight to Washington under the same microscope there.” POSTGAME NOTES & QUOTES COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS 6, COLORADO AVALANCHE 3 FEBRUARY 5, 2019

On The Third Period: “I mean, when they get that go-ahead goal, that changes everything and then because we challenged it, you know, obviously we were wrong it turns out and then they get a power play and they score on it. Obviously, that’s [the] game, realistically, but obviously we try to push and do what we can after that, but at that point, it’s tough. We dominated in the first period, we dominated in the first 10 minutes of the second and then all of the sudden, they get a breakaway at the end of the second, it’s a tie game. You know, if we capitalize on our chances, it’s 4-2 and a different hockey game.”

Colorado D Ian Cole On Tonight’s Game: “Well, I guess the most concise and obvious answer is that we obviously lost. It’s happening far too frequently for the past month-and-a-half, two months and we got to figure out a way to change it. There’s always key moments in a game where momentum shifts and certainly timely op- portunities to either score or be scored on, and tonight, I don’t think we did a great job of recognizing those opportunities and obviously not taking advantage of them and/or letting up some things.”

On The Team’s Performance As Of Late: “If there was an easy answer, I would hope that we would have fixed it already. We need to figure it out sooner or later though.”

Columbus RW Cam Atkinson On His Goal: “Well I thought our second period was our worst period, we talked about it. It could have been the worst period that we’ve played all year. That’s what we actually talked about, but to get the goal to tie it up in the last minute of the second I think gave us a little bit of momentum and confidence and it wasn’t our prettiest, the first two, but we just talked about third period needs to be our best and I thought we did a pretty good job.”

On Columbus LW Artemi Panarin’s Assist: “It was a great play. I wish he could have buried it when I gave him the breakaway but that’s sometimes [how it] goes. But no, it was kind of a weird play be- cause Andy (Columbus RW Josh Anderson) got kneed in the face, so he was kind of late to the bench so I was kind of trailing the play and obviously Bob (Columbus G Sergei Bobrovsky) made a huge save and then went to Bread (Panarin) and Bread found me so it was nice.”

Columbus C Pierre-Luc Dubois On Tonight’s Game: “I thought our third period was our best period, I thought we finally found it in the third. The game could have gotten out of hand in the second but Bob (Columbus G Sergei Bobrovsky) made some amazing saves to keep us in the game and gave us a chance to win. So you can look at it different ways, but you can’t play too many games like this with the playoffs coming up because we can’t be winning one and losing one. We have to get a couple streaks here.”

On His Performance: “I don’t know how the first one went in, and the last one was an empty net. It was a nice play the first goal between two defensemen to get the shot and the last one, Booner (Columbus C Boone Jenner) won the draw and Z (Columbus D Zach Werenski) with a nice play off the wall for me, so it’s not obviously the goals you dream of, but however they go in.”
