AREA ADMINISTRATOR

Dear Members and Friends,

I would like to welcome the office bearers who were elected at our last meeting, and are listed on the front page of this newsletter. I trust and hope you will enjoy and find it a rewarding experience. Not everyone can stand for an elected position, due to other pressures due to other pressures and commitments at work. However, you may be able to volunteer to assist at an organised function. Which brings us to our :-

OPEN DAY

This will be held on 7th October, 1998, at the Baptist Hall. I hope to see all our members give some time to the project. This is our effort to raise funds to buy more equipment and records to improve our research library. If you cannot attend the next meeting or workshop please phone and advise when and how you can help. The club depends on its members - without your help, someone else will have to do more. Come and give a hand. Your attendance will be appreciated.

EDITORIAL

Marie brings some diversity to our newsletter this month with her interesting extracts from early Government Gazettes.

Don't forget that all our members are very welcome to contribute items of interest to our letter so if during your research you come upon some information worth passing on please consider sending it to us for inclusion. These little things add much to the tone and value of our publication. Recently our group was well represented at a special Genealogy Day with the Internet arranged by Multimedia of Timor St, Warrnambool. This included a First Families training session and was altogether a most enjoyable and profitable experience, especially for those of us who knew very little about working with Internet.
