Emblems of The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary are copyrighted and patented (designs Nos. 54296 and 55398). Individual Posts, Units and Departments cannot use, or grant permission for use of the emblem or emblems (excepting as covered by National Convention or National Execu- tive Committee mandates) without first obtaining approval of the National Adjutant or the National Secretary. Permission to use either emblem for com- mercial purposes is never granted.

The American Legion emblem is protected by Federal legislation, which makes it a criminal offense for anyone to manufacture, sell or purchase for resale, the insignia either separately or attached to any article.

This 1955 National Emblem Sales catalog describes items available through National Headquarters, and is the only official merchandise available. Items are priced as low as possible. Every article embodies the emblem or its reproduction of either The American Legion or the American Legion Auxiliary. You do not pay an added charge for the insignia.

Legion banners are available in rayon taffeta and wool. Rayon taffeta banners are double thickness, heavy U. S. Government quality material. Wool banners are U. S. quality wool bunting. Grade A wool banner is double thickness—Grade B banner is single thickness.
