Āṭānāṭiya Sutta Kubera/Vessavaṇa

Dhataraṭṭha Virūpakkha उ र पम पूव द ण Virūḷhaka • Because it was composed in Āṭānāṭā City in the Kingdom of King Kubera (Vessavaṇa) Āṭānāṭiya Sutta • The original sutta is found in Pāthikavagga of Dīghanikāya • There are some variations in the Morning Chanting of Guru ji, which may be a version used in Monastic Tradition of . • In the morning chanting, 1st Six Verses homage is paid to Previous Six Buddhas and Lord Gotama Buddha, then attention is paid to the qualities of all the Buddhas, which gives strength to Faith. • 31 Kappa ago – he came in Maṇḍa kappa • At that time, it is said that the average age was 60,000 yrs • He rode his Golden Palanquin at the time of his renunciation, after 6 months of extreme practices he attained Enlightenment under a Sāla Tree. • Lord Gotama Buddha was born as King Sudassanna. He came in contact with Lord Vessabhū Buddha and joined the Order. He became a who practiced Dhutāṅga. Vessabhū Buddha confirmed that King Sudassana will become Lord Gotama Buddha 31 Kappas from that time.

King Pabbata then joined the Order.

• He was the third Buddha in this very Bhadda Kappa • At that time, it is said that the average age was 20,000 yrs • The moment he decided to renounce, his Palace is said to have flown to the area near the Bodhi Tree, after 7 days of extreme practices he attained Enlightenment under a Tree. • Lord Gotama Buddha was born as Jotipāla Mānavaka. He came in contact with Lord Kassapa Buddha, and later joined the Order. He became a Tipiṭakadhara Monk. Kassapa Buddha confirmed that Jotipāla Mānavaka will become Lord Gotama Buddha in this very Bhadda Kappa. Gotama Buddha
