Tournament Scoring Individual bout points are earned in the following ways:

At Cortland, athletics are viewed as having an important role in the educational mission of the College. During the fall, winter and spring seasons, Cortland participates in 25 intercollegiate sports — 14 women’s and 11 men’s — in an attempt to provide a broad program which meets the needs, interests and abilities of its students.

The Cortland athletic program placed 21st nationally out of approximately 450 colleges and universities in the 2016-17 all-sport Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Division III standings. Cortland is the only New York school and one of only five nationwide to finish EMPIRE COLLEGIATE WRESTLING CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP SCHEDULE

The Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Championship includes up to two wrestlers at each weight class from each school plus selected at- large competitors, totaling a maximum of 16 wrestlers per weight class. The highest finishing wrestler for a program in a weight class determines the team points.

This year, berths into the NCAA Division III Championships on Friday and Saturday, March 9th and 10th, in Cleveland, Ohio will be determined at six NCAA Div. III Regional Qualifiers on Friday and Saturday, February 24th and 25th. The top-three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes earn a spot at the national championship meet. Starting this season, all six schools included in the ECWC will compete in the Mideast Regional Qualifier.
