Parador included in this offer – de Segovia

Situated on a hill overlooking the majestic city, the exceptional Parador de Segovia offers stunning panoramic views of the old quarter, declared by UNESCO to be a World Heritage Site. The skyline of Segovia, with the towers of the Gothic cathedral and the great mass of the Alcázar (once a favourite residence of the kings of Castile), is seen to particularly good effect, both from the hotel itself, and from its expansive grassy terrace. Segovia is a fascinating place to explore, with many old buildings, including Romanesque churches, original town walls and gateways, and a Roman aqueduct. The Parador has a splendid conference centre, an outdoor pool, a heated indoor pool, a gym, a sauna, a tennis court and facilities for the disabled, and the spacious and very comfortable bedrooms all share the fine views of the city. This Parador has a particularly fine restaurant where the many regional dishes on offer include Sopa Castellana (a hearty local soup), Asadas de Cordero o Cochinillo (lamb or suckling pig roasted in a wood-fired oven) and Judiones de La Granja (a bean dish).

From the Parador, the visitor has a privileged view of the medieval town, which has remained largely unchanged over the course of time. These streets and peoples knew their greatest glory from the 14th century onward, when the Alcázar (fortress) abandoned its severe Cistercian airs and became a palace for the Trastámara monarchs.
