National Triathlon Wednesday 29 April

Building on the success of ISA’s triathlon last year, the event was staged again at Lucton School, this year attracting 230 competitors from 16 schools.

It was another hugely successful event for all competitors involved, not least because the sun shone all day! The children swam in Lucton’s indoor pool and then completed laps around the school fields cycling and

running. They finished the race through a huge blow up finish gantry (pictured below).

Individual medals were presented to the top three finishers in each race along with a separate Girls’ and Boys’ trophy for the schools with the total lowest score from 5 individuals across any of the any

groups. The Girls’ trophy was won jointly by Dodderhill and Lucton School and the Boys’ trophy was won by Lucton School.

Congratulations to all competitors for completing their race. A huge thank you to Lucton School for hosting the event and to all of the staff involved in delivering it. For full results click here. National Clay Pigeon Shooting Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 May

The Oxford Gun Company organised the Clay Pigeon Shooting event at Bredon School over the Bank Holiday weekend. It was an extremely popular weekend with lots entries from teams and individuals.

Bredon School made history in the 10th year of the The Schools Challenge (TSC), winning the Bredon Schools Challenge scoring 226: 12 clays clear of any other team. They have also not dropped below 2nd place all year in the TSC series and have beaten every school and college this year. What an achievement for a small school who have only been shooting for 3 years.

Thanks to the Oxford Gun company for opening this event to ISA schools. For full results click here. National Tennis Tournament Monday 18 May

This year the tennis tournament moved venues to the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton. The event had 88 entries in U13 and U15 age groups. It was an extremely wet morning; unfortunately the boys pulled the short straw having to play doubles outside in the rain whilst the girls played singles inside. In the afternoon, the boys played their singles matches inside and the girls played doubles outside (by which point the sun had come out!). Despite the weather, it was a fantastic day of tennis with some great competition displayed. Thanks to all of the staff who helped to deliver the event on the day. For full results click here. National Athletics Monday 22 June

The final event of the academic year was the National Athletic Championships in Birmingham.

This is a great event to end the year on with all 7 Areas coming together to battle it out against each other. There were some fantastic performances displayed on both the track and field with a full stadium of parents, staff and children all cheering on their team mates. Congratulations to London West who were crowned Overall Area Champions along with winning both the overall Junior and Senior titles aswell! A huge thank you to all UK Athletics officials who ran events throughout the day and for all Areas for supplying officials and volunteers to help the event run smoothly. For full results click here.

Thank you to Noel for volunteering to help Richard; ISA Sport looks forward to having your on board. Midlands

Crackley Hall hosted the Midlands inaugural Festival in June which saw 8 teams enjoy a days cricket. There was a tournament running throughout the day but whilst teams weren’t playing, they rotated around different coaching stations, all run by Crackley Hall and Princethorpe PE staff. Children experienced competitive cricket matches whilst also practicing and improving their cricket skills, with expert coaching, throughout the day. A huge thank you to Crackley Hall for organising this Festival. Robert wishes to grow this event next year so please don't hesitate to enter a team if your school would like to join in. We would like to welcome Robert to the Sports Committee and look forward to having him on board. London North

Next year London North are planning to organise a Trampolining tournament combined with London South. This new event will offer children the opportunity to try a new event and showcase their trampolining skills. Look out for information on this event from Tendai Huntley and Manola Toschi-Restiva in September. London South

London South have enjoyed lots of new events this year including new Fencing and Judo tournaments. Their U11 representative football squad have done very well competing against professional club sides including Fulham and Chelsea. Next year, they will organise a Trampolining event with London North.

Paula Anderson from Bishop Challoner school is taking over the role of Area Sports Head from Peter Kelly to support Manola. Thank you to Peter Kelly for his support over the last few years. We wish Paula all the best in her new role supporting Manola. London West

Schools from all over the south travelled to Ballard for the inaugural Independent Schools Association (ISA) Pre-Prep Sports Festival which was hosted by the school. Children aged 6 and 7 had a day of fun and team activity across a range of sports including hockey, 3 ball cricket and end ball. In the afternoon, there was a frenetic and energetic continuous relay as a finale to the event. It was a great opportunity to make new friends, discover new sports and learn transferable

skills. Organiser and Ballard PE staff member Dan Winch said:

"It was an inspiring day and I am very grateful for the other schools making the effort to travel from as far as Devon and Berkshire to make this a special event. We are looking forward to hosting this event again next year". North

ISA Sport is looking for a volunteer to take over the role of Area Sports Coordinator (ASC) in the North. Angela Davis has done a fantastic job as the North's ASC for many years but is keen to pass on the role to another willing volunteer.

If anyone is interested in this role, please contact Fran Hide for an informal discussion. It would be possible to split the role and share it between two people, one focusing on Junior events and one focusing on Senior events.

Other ASC's have thoroughly enjoyed their time on the sports committee. They enjoy networking with other Areas, influencing the direction of ISA's National sports programme, as well as developing their own Area programme. It is an extremely rewarding role and we look forward to hearing from anyone that may be interested in taking it on. South West

Sue Rowe from St Joseph’s School will soon be stepping down as Area Sport Head as she retires from St Joseph’s at the end of the term. ISA Sport would like to thank Sue for all of her work supporting Sam Matthews as the Area Sport Coordinator. Sue will be continuing work with ISA as the new Regional Representative for the South West. A new Area Sport Head in the South West will be appointed soon. 12. Finally...a thank you! ISA Sport would like to thank all schools that have organised, entered and volunteered at any Area or National events this term. Without the support from schools organising events, ISA’s extensive Area and National sports programme would not be possible.

Also, thank you to ISA's Area Sports Coordinators for all their hard work this academic year. They all work tirelessly throughout the year organising and coordinating their Area sports programme on top of teaching within school. Please be sure to say a special thanks to them next time you see them for all of their work.

We wish you a wonderful summer holiday and see you all in September to kick start another year of ISA Sports events.
