• The Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team is ranked No. 1 in the nation for the eighth consecutive week. This week marks the first time this season that rankings have been determined by national qualifying scores (NQS). • NQS is based on a team’s six best regular season scores, three of which must be away. The overall high score is eliminated, and the five remaining scores are averaged. NQS scores are used to determine seeding for NCAA regional competition at six campus sites on April 2-4. • The Sooners mark of 197.930 is the highest opening NQS score in program history. OU has been ranked No. 1 in the first NQS ranking of the season for the last six seasons. • Additionally, the Sooners rank in the top three on all four events, including the top spot on vault and bars with a 49.550 NQS on both events. First Year of Gymnastics: 1981 • For the third year in a row, the Sooners became the first team in the country to reach a score of All-Time Record: 778-345-4 (.691) 198 or better with a 198.250 on Jan. 17 at Alabama. OU reached 198 once again with a 198.250 on Jan. 20 against Arkansas and again with a 198.400 on Feb. 14. NCAA Championship Appearances: 19 • In each of last two seasons, the Sooners have posted at least eight marks of 198 or higher. Since NCAA Finals Appearances: 9 2016 OU has totaled 29 scores of 198 or better and has 36 such scores in program history. • Of those 36, only 13 have been earned at home with the other 23 all coming at road or neutral COMPETITION SITE sites. Nine of those scores have come in regional or national competition, including the 198.475 mark at the 2019 NCAA Athens Regional which is the top road score in NCAA history. • Head coach K.J. Kindler is in a league of her own in 2020. With the retirement of long-time UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field at the end of the 2019 season, Kindler is now the only active head coach to win a national championship.
