From Inverness (A9 heading North)

Method Details Own Road Four routes are outlined below. Transport Route 1 is the most direct with the other 3 being quite comparable for directness. Route 1: via Lochcarron and the Bealach Na Ba Route 2: via Lochcarron and the Coast Road Route 3: via and the Bealach Na Ba Route 4: via Kinlochewe and the Coast Road

Route 1 1. At Longman roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A9 (signposted for Wick); 2. Cross the Kessock Bridge & continue straight; 3. At Tore roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A835 (signposted for Ullapool, Dingwall) and continue; 4. At the Maryborough roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A835 (signposted for Ullapool); 5. Continue and pass through and ; 6. Just past Garve, turn left onto the A832 (signposted for Achnasheen, Lochcarron); 7. Continue and pass through Lochluiart, and Achnasheen; 8. Just outside Achnasheen, at roundabout take the 1st exit on the A890 (signposted for Kyle of , Lochcarron); 9. Continue and pass through Craig, Achnashellach, and Coulags towards Lochcarron; 10. Just outside Lochcarron the A890 becomes the A896 and you will see on the signpost!; 11. Continue and pass through Lochcarron and then on through Kishorn; 12. You will start to see the hills of Applecross on your left as you drive past ; 13. At Tornapress turn left onto the Bealach Na Ba, prepare to be amazed; 14. Continue until you reach Applecross at the other side!; 15. Once you have come over the cattlegrid continue around the bend to the bottom of the brae (hill); 16. Turn left here and the Inn is approx. 300m on your left.

Route 2 – as route 1 until point 12 THEN

13. At Tornapress continue towards Sheildaig on the A896 through the glen; 14. About a mile before Sheildaig turn left towards Applecross; 15. Continue, passing through Arrina, Kenmore, Fernamore, Callakille and Lonbain; 16. You will pass a big sand dune on your right as you go up a hill; 17. Continue and you will begin to see Applecross bay in front of you; 18. The row of buildings you see is Shore Street and the Inn is the first one; 19. Come around the head of Applecross Bay and continue until you reach the Inn on your left.

Route 3 – as route 1 until point 7 THEN

8. Just outside Achnasheen, at the roundabout take the 2nd exit on the A832 (signposted for Gairloch, Kinlochewe); 9. Continue through the glen until you reach Kinlochewe, turn left onto the A896; 10. Continue through the Kinlochewe/ glen until you reach Sheildaig; 11. Pass Sheildaig continuing on the A896 until you reach Tornapress; NOTE you will see a signpost for Applecross to your left just outside Sheildaig. This is the coastal route outlined in option 4. 12. At Tornapress turn right onto the Bealach Na Ba, prepare to be amazed; 13. Continue until you reach Applecross at the other side!; 14. Once you have come over the cattlegrid continue around the bend to the bottom of the brae (hill); 15. Turn left here and the Inn is approx. 300m on your left.

Route 4 – as route 3 until point 10 THEN

11. Pass Sheildaig continuing on the A896 for about a mile after Sheildaig, then turn right towards Applecross; 12. Continue, passing through Arrina, Kenmore, Fernamore, Callakille and Lonbain; 13. You will pass a big sand dune on your right as you go up a hill; 14. Continue and you will begin to see Applecross bay in front of you; 15. The row of buildings you see is Shore Street and the Inn is the first one; 16. Come around the head of Applecross Bay and continue until you reach the Inn on your left.
