CHOICE The Chandler Unified School District is a premier district of choice. Parents are able to choose from a variety of personalized learning experiences to find the program that best meets the ANNUAL REPORT needs of their children. Options include Traditional Academies, Gi ed Programs, Honors Classes, Advanced Placement Courses, an International Baccalaureate Program, Dual Languages, STEM, Bioscience, Cyber Security, College Prep Campuses, and the Early College Program.

ACHIEVEMENT Academic achievement is a high priority in the district as evidenced by test scores above the state and national averages. Our students consistently score among the top in the state on college-entrance exams, and are top earners of prestigious awards in state and national competitions. CUSD has also earned a reputation for excellence in athletic achievement winning a variety of state championship trophies and medals in every sport.

GROWTH Due to a booming city population and open enrollment laws, Chandler Unified is one of the fastest-growing districts in the state. The district has opened 25 schools since 1998 and now consists of 31 elementary, ten middle school programs, six high schools and three alternative schools. This year will see the opening of the new Robert Rice Elementary campus, and we’ll continue to grow in 2021 with a new high school campus too! PARTNERSHIPS Chandler Unified School District is part of a community that works hard to ensure our city thrives. We have partnered up with local municipalities, colleges, universities and businesses to expand our resources and provide more opportunities for our students.

MUNICIPALITIES When called upon, the cities of Chandler, Gilbert, and Queen Creek have always been ready to help. From sharing libraries, pools, bus fueling stations and bus parking lots, to providing school resource oicers and construction permits, we have always been able to count on local governments to provide for the needs of their students. The Chandler Chamber of Commerce also supports CUSD by providing vital programs and services that attract and retain business while embracing our diversity. Higher Education For many students, education doesn’t stop at CUSD. Arizona State University, , Grand Canyon University, and Chandler Gilbert Community College all work with CUSD to ensure smooth transitions to their campuses. They provide guidance, as well as work with the dual credit program, College Prep Campuses, the Early College Program, and helped form the new cybersecurity program.

CUSD LEADERSHIP SUPERINTENDENT Dr. Camille Casteel has dedicated her professional career to the success of Chandler schools. Beginning as a first grade teacher, she advanced to FINANCIAL REPORT become the first principal of Weinberg Elementary, and then associate superintendent, before being appointed Superintendent in 1996. Since then, she has led CUSD through its greatest period of growth and expansion, all the while improving and increasing partnerships with key advocates, community groups, municipalities, and businesses. This year, Dr. Casteel earned a Trailblazer Award at the A for Arizona second annual gala. This award is given to superintendents who show "Excellence in School Leadership" by passionate and motivated leaders who think outside the box to create outstanding schools for students. She is a former Arizona Superintendent of the Year, Tech-Savvy Superintendent and Chandler Education Foundation Woman of Greatness, as well as recipient of leadership awards from the Si Se Puede Foundation, Chandler Chamber of Commerce, Tribune Newspapers, and East Valley Partnership. In 2014, the Arizona School Administrators (ASA) Association honored her with the Dr. Raymond Sterling Kellis Leadership Award. In 2015, the Governing Board voted to name the newest high school in her honor. She also received the Diversity Award from the Chandler Chamber of Commerce and was recognized in 2016 as the Extraordinary Superintendent of the Year by the Maricopa County Education Service Agency. GOVERNING BOARD Governing board members are elected by the public, serving four-year terms. The board sets all district policies and has final authority over all district business. The public is welcome to attend Governing Board business meetings and study sessions, generally held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 7 p.m. Study sessions are held as needed. The district relies on the vision and stability provided by the Governing Board. Their 10-year plan titled Journey 2025 provides the vision for CUSD to be the top district in the nation. Metrics are established annually in the categories of Outstanding Students, World-Class Employees, Organizational Culture and E ective Resource Management.
