An Independent Review Panel has been set up to consider the future role of Community and Town Councils. The review will:

explore the potential role of local government below Local Authority councils, drawing on best practice

 define the most appropriate model(s)/structure(s) to deliver this role  consider how these models and structures should be applied across . This will include consideration of any situations in which they would not be necessary or appropriate.

Attached for member’s consideration is a copy of Section 13 of the above report entitled – Payment to Members of Community and Town Councils. Members will note that the Panel is proposing to form groups of Community and Town Councils based upon income and expenditure. Given the enclosed information this Council would fall into Group C as outlined in Table 7.

Members will also note that Section 13.10 outlines proposed modifications to payments towards costs and expenses to be paid to Councillors.
