With the motto Vincit qui Patitur (“he who endures conquers”), you might think that the Barns Green Half Marathon wasn’t a lot of fun. But whether you’re racing or spectating, it’s a brilliant day out for all the family. Begun by a few friends around 30 years ago, the race was a success from the off. Nowadays, with over 1,800 runners lining up to pound the country lanes, the whole village turns out to see them off and cheer them home. There’s a real carnival atmosphere on the day of the event, with stalls and sideshows on the green to entertain everyone who attends.
