The Entwistle Reservoir not visited yet.

The Turton and Entwistle Reservoir is a water reservoir in the town of . When constructed in 1832 the Entwistle Dam was the highest in Britain; it rises 108 feet from the base. The reservoir contains almost 750 thousand imperial gallons (roughly 3,400,000 litres) and, with the Wayoh Reservoir just below, satisfies around 50% of Bolton's need for drinking water.

The walk is around the reservoir, which is set below moorlands and is very pretty in summer, but the trees in autumn are especially beautiful. There is an abundance of birdlife, wildlife and flowers / fauna to see all year round.

Thanks to Nadine for the photos and informing me of the walk.

There is also an excellent utube clip by Smedly, which I recommend you to view.

 Facilities – Some picnic tables – Notice board – ‘The Strawbury Duck’ Inn close by. There is a pay and display car park near the reservoir.

 Café – Very close to the reservoir is a public house ‘The Strawbury Duck’ which serves excellent food and is worth a visit.

The Strawbury Duck

 Toilets – There are toilets at the public house.

 Path - The path is a good surface for motorised wheelchairs and is made up of fine rolled-in crushed stone all the way round, with a few gravel areas - manual wheelchairs / pushchairs with pushers will need to assess individually.

It is a very pleasant walk around Entwistle Reservoir with a well-defined path, although it can get a bit boggy in damp weather, and it’s a popular spot for joggers and dog- walkers.
