FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Its my privilege and honor to bring out the latest volume of KLS GIT’s “eSpectra” bi-monthly newsletter for the period Jan.-Feb. 2021. This is our 2nd volume, 1st issue of eSpectra for current year 2021. We received Karnatak Law Society’s overwhelming response to our previous four issues of eSpectra for the GOGTE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY year 2020, which reached out to all the stakeholders: students, parents, alumni, industries, institutes, colleges, etc., through emails, social media and our institute portal. Our estimate indicates that, eSpectra is reaching out to nearly 10000+ people. We have initiated many campus connect programs, workshops and seminars, with all necessary precautions, for the current semester. Focus is now on increasing research publications. We are trying to host webinars of our reputed alumni for encouraging our students. Brainstorming sessions are being organized across all departments and at the central level to workout strategies for taking KLSGIT to next level in the coming years. We have introduced many innovative schemes in our institutes to help students get better placements, take up competitive exams, research and higher studies. Two distinguished alumni have been presented in the present volume along with their accomplishments. We look forward to an exciting year ahead which I feel is full of challenges and opportunities.

Glimpses of Brainstorm on “UG Admission Trends”

The top management of KLS GIT decided to conduct brainstorming sessions across all departments and at central level on the theme "Strategies to improve admissions at KLS GIT across various departments“. KLS GIT is a recognized VLCI (Visionary Learner's Community of India) centre started by Padmashree Prof Shoji Shiba from Japan. One of his principles, 4W1H (When, Where, Why, Whom and How) was used to come out with strategies to address the theme.

Thus, a marathon brainstorming session on “UG Admission Trends” was conducted on 13th and 15th February 2021 at KLS GIT under the chairmanship of our beloved Principal Dr. Jayant K. Kittur. All HoDs, Deans and Section Heads participated in this session.

The session brought 81 points in total by the participants and were grouped into internal and external factors. Further, internal factors were categorized into department level factors and institution level factors.

To get a better insight on each factor, the participants were further divided into different groups, and each group reviewed and summarized each factor. Then the group came out with a problem statement and the possible remedy/solution to be initiated. In all more than 150 mind hours was invested in the entire process.

All in all it was a mammoth exercise carried out in all departments among faculty and at the central level with the Principal, Deans and HODs were the participants. Session was a great success all the participants giving their valuable suggestions.

HOD Message about the Department:

It is my pleasure to present to you KLS GIT EC Newsletter - Jan 2021 edition. This edition highlights the achievements and contributions of the department. The department has successfully navigated the online teaching-learning scenario. The results of the process would be validated in the off-line exam results!!!. I welcome the lateral entry students to the department. This is one batch who have started their classes with the exam dates published !!!. The faculty have successfully transferred knowledge to students. Of course, with offline classes the students may lose the flexibility of moving around as in online classes, we are sure the offline mode would bring out better interaction with faculty and classmates and we are ready to take on academics, competitions in co-curricular and extra curricular activities. I am looking forward for more contributions from students in the next edition.
