From England’s smallest city, to Somerset’s border with Bath, the Castle Line is a must-see route. A rare 2500-year-old quern stone used by people at Tedbury Camp, near Mells, to grind their corn for flour. Kilver Court Gardens Kilver Street, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5NF The gardens were first created by Ernest Jardine as a recreational space for factory workers of Kilver Court in the 1800s. Thomas Horner reputedly discovered the deeds to Mells Manor in a pie given to him to carry to London by the last Abbot of Glastonbury. Parts of the walls were damaged in 1645 during the English Civil War and took nearly 400 years to collapse. The legendary ‘Witch of Wookey Hole’, a skeleton excavated in the caves in 1908. 7 Hamstone Line Taking its name from the distinctive honey-coloured stone quarried in the area, the circular Hamstone Line incorporates 55 miles of history and heritage.
