A tight in a couple of sensesunexpectedly comic courtroom saga from veteran The Litigators: A Novel eagle Grisham , etc. But grown-up is as The Litigators: A Novel does, and the characters who populate this latest are very, well, morally compromised—and on all sides of the law. There are a couple of holes in the plot if David wants out of the law so badly, why does he so quickly fall right back into it? The Litigators: A Novel tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy. Are we not men? We are—well, ask Bigfoot, as Brooks does in this delightful yarn, following on his bestseller World War Z A zombie apocalypse is one thing. Taking up our resources, our time to care for you. One of those rare thrillers whose answers are even more scarifying than its mysteries. A middle- aged woman sidelined by a horrific accident finds even sharper pains waiting on the other side of her recuperation in this expert nightmare by Hardy, familiar to many readers as Megan Hart, author of All the Secrets We Keepetc. When she awoke, she was minus her gallbladder, two working collarbones and therefore two functioning armsand her memory. Every day is filled with torments. At the emergency room, her credit card and debit card are declined. The Litigators: A Novel feels that she hates oppressively solicitous Harriett but has no idea why. Her sessions with her psychiatrist fail to heal her rage at her adoptive mother, an addict who abandoned her then returned only to disappear again and die an ugly death. Even worse, her attempts to recover her lost memory lead to an excruciatingly paced series of revelations. Val says Diana asked her to seduce Jonathan. Where can this maze of deceptions possibly end? Ten years after her teenage daughter went missing, a mother begins a new relationship only to discover she can't truly move The Litigators: A Novel until she answers lingering questions about the past. She drifted away from her other two children, Hanna and Jake, and eventually she and her husband, Paul, divorced. Both of these sections primarily focus on Laurel. All of these devices serve to build palpable tension, but the structure also contributes to how deeply disturbing the story becomes. At times, the characters and the emotional core of the events are almost obscured by such quick maneuvering through the weighty plot. Already have an account? Log in. Trouble signing in? The Litigators by John Grisham

Like many lawyers, I find legal fiction — whether a novel, a TV show, or movie — painful. Most of it looks like this to me. They are, of course, none of these things. There are various inaccuracies and far-fetched plot devices, but they can be forgiven because the book rings true as it lampoons the field. While lawyers considering solo and small practice often think they can build an enjoyable practice filled with fascinating work that balances lucrative contingent fee work with steady billable work, such an idea is usually a terrible business modeland the typical small law The Litigators: A Novel is characterized by monotony, modest income, and a perpetual hustle for business just to keep it afloat. That ends The Litigators: A Novel argument. The real-life themes of mass torts are accurate, as well. I thus recommend the book for lawyers looking for something light and funny. I am a bit concerned that non-lawyers may be learning about the law through the book, not recognizing it is a satirical version of mass torts, not a documentary. It almost seems too good The Litigators: A Novel be true. And it is. A Litigator Reviews John Grisham's The Litigators | Litigation & Trial
