On April 29, 2010, the Historical Museum of Southern Florida changed its name to HistoryMiami. With the new name change, the institution will seek to raise the profile of several of our entities in order to more fully articulate what it offers to the community. Below is a listing of them.

Each of these programs and events assist us in fulfilling HistoryMiami’s mission of connecting people by telling the stories of Miami’s communities, individuals, places and events.
Membership
Members are the public face of HistoryMiami in the communin'. They demonstrate a commitment to a shared mission, vision and values. With the name change, membership at HistoryMiami has been expand ed to allow customization by interest. Additional society options such as the Flagler Street Society, the 11th Judicial Circuit Historical Society and the Pillars Society will serve to enhance the membership experience. All members enjoy a wide variety of benefits, including free year-round admission to the Museum and Archives & Research Center, subscription to HM The Magazine of HistoryMiami (formerly South Florida History) andTequesta, invitations to exclusive exhibition openings, discounted admission on City Tours and other special events. Tequesta
Tequesta, the scholarly journal of HistoryMiami, has been published annually since 1941. It contains articles about the history of South Florida, especially of the Miami area, the Florida Keys and the Everglades. Time periods tor topics range from pre-Columbian history to the late twentieth century. While most articles are scholarly studies, many first-person accounts also appear in the journal. The breadth and depth of the articles make Tequesta one of the best sources for the study of South Florida history. The contents of Tequesta are copyrighted, and all rights are reserved. Reprint of material is encouraged; however, written permission from the Association is required. The editors welcome inquiries and submissions. The Chicago Manual of Style should be consulted on matters of style. Illustrations may be embedded in electronic manuscripts to indicate their locations; sub mit them also as separate, 300 ppi or higher jpegs or tiffs. The current issue and some back issues may be purchased from the Museum Store. Complete sets of the journal are in the Archives & Research Center, as well as at Floridiana collections in libraries through out Florida.
