Year-Round Clothing & Collection

It is estimated that nearly 85% of all clothing and end up in landfills in the U.S. today. The average person throws away 70 pounds of clothing each year. Textile and clothing is a significant problem in our country. These items are often very dense and consume significant landfill space.

With those statistics in mind, and a goal to increase recycling, SWALCO has established a new community-wide program where clothing and textiles will be collected for recycling/, including collection events and a year-round bin collection program with locations around the community. The program will accept new, gently used, used or unwanted/worn, women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and textiles. All fabrics will be accepted. Even clothes or textiles with stains or holes will be accepted. The great news too, is that almost 95% of the materials collected will be repurposed or recycled. The Village of Lindenhurst, working with SWALCO, will now collect new, gently used and worn clothing and textiles, year-round through this program. Clothing & Textiles Bin Drop Off Location:
