The School Issue 1086

th 15 February 2019

Email: [email protected] Website: www.hhs.herts.sch.uk

We have reached the halfway point of the year! 2019 has got off to a sterling start and the school is a busy, happy, lively place of learning every day.

On Wednesday Year 9 had their careers day. This was a very useful and insightful event and we would like to thank all those local business people who came, supported, and enthused our students about their careers.

In construction there is a tradition of ceremonies. We are not quite at the ribbon cutting yet, but yesterday a group of students (those with the top attainment points in their year) started our Topping Out ceremony by signing a section of the roof of the new sports hall.

On Saturday these will be lifted into place and their words will forever be encapsulated in the fabric of the building. It is really nice to think that in 30 years’ time, they might be walking along Heath Lane and be able to turn to their children and say, “did you know, my name is written on that roof!”

The sun has come out and it is feeling positively springlike. I sincerely hope that it stays like this for your half-term holiday. For some of our students and staff they have the fantastic opportunity to spend the week in upstate Vermont on our Ski Trip! We look forward to seeing you refreshed and th ready to go, on Tuesday 26 February at 8.30am.

Have a great holiday.
