1. Welcome to the 2017 in Wrocław, The International World Games Association (IWGA) has awarded the to the city of Wrocław, Poland. Orienteering is one of 27 ofcial sport included in the program of these games. The World Games are being organized by the Wrocław Organizing Committee (WOC). As the organizer of The World Games 2017, the Wrocław Organizing Committee (WOC) is pleased to welcome the world’s elite orienteers to this major event.

2. The World Games The World Games is an international multi-sport event held every four year under the auspices of the IWGA. The World Games is organized un- der the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The IOF has been a member of the International World Games Association since 1995. In 2001 orienteering made its debut on the program of the World Games held in , Japan. The program of the 10th World Games 2017 in Wrocław includes com- petitions in 27 ofcial sports and in 4 sports on the invitational program. More than 4000 athletes and ofcials are expected to participate in the competitions that will take place at 24 diferent venues.

3. Orienteering Competition Venues The orienteering competitions will be organised in Wrocław and Trzeb- nica.

4. Travel to and from the event centre There is an international airport in Wrocław with many connections to all over the world. 5. Entry and accreditation 5.1 Eligible participants An online registration system will be used for the World Games 2017. The system will be operational as from February 1, 2017. A description of the procedure is not yet available from the organizers, however the IOF Gen- eral Secretariat will manage the registration process. Further information will be provided as it becomes available. There is no entry fee for teams that have been allocated places in the games by IOF (see below for IOF qualifcation rules). The accreditation is personal, non transferable and compulsory to have access to the training and competition sites as well as for the ofcial transportation system of WOC. The accreditation identifes individuals participating in the event and indi- cates their right to access to the diferent zones identifed on the ID-Card.

5.2 Extra Ofcials Extra ofcials may be accredited at their own cost. There are 4 categories for extra ofcials defned by WOC, below you can fnd details. WOC will look to accommodate the extra ofcials at the same hotel/uni- versity campus as the eligible. 1) Single or twin room available only for Inernational Federation’s accom- modated in hotels: Accreditation No 1 • single bed with breakfast, • ID-Card by specifc function, • meals at Catering Center, • local transport, • shuttle from / to airport. Total Costs per day: 180 euro per Person.

Accreditation No 2 • twin room with breakfast, • ID-Card by specifc function, • meals at Catering Center, • local transport, • shuttle from / to airport. Total Costs per day: 130 euro per Person.

2) Twin room at the university campus: Accreditation No 3 • twin room, • ID-Card by specifc function, • meals at Catering Center, • local transport, • shuttle from / to airport. Total Costs per day: 120 euro per Person.

3) Accreditation for Ofcials by specifc function: Accreditation No 4 • ID-Card by specifc function, • local transport, • shuttle from / to airport. Total Costs per day: 60 euro per Person. Does NOT Include: • accommodation, • meals.

Deadlines and payments: end of October 2016 First estimation of number of Extra Ofcials and their function during TWG 2017 sent to WOC by IFs (with division into single and double/twin rooms). NOTE: each extra ofcial must have specifc role in the competition. Based on this information WOC will provide the feedback with the fnal number of available rooms for extra ofcials per sport at the same localization as IF Passport Holders from the same sport. 28th February 2017 Last date to provide WOC with fnal number of Extra Of- fcials. Deadline for online prepayment of 30%. NOTE: One online payment made by IF for accreditations of all Extra ofcials from all countries of their sport. 31st March 2017 The last deadline for the transfer of personal data of Extra Ofcials and their duties during TWG 2017 2nd April 2017 Accreditation system opens to IWGA and WOC for data verifcation. 29th April 2017 Final confrmation of number of Extra Ofcials with every IF. May 2017 Visa - Letter of invitation sent to participants (requiring visa) or downloaded. 31st May 2017 Deadline for payment of the outstanding of the fees for Extra Ofcials. NOTE: One online payment made by IF for accreditations of all Extra ofcials from all countries of their sport.

6. Accommodation, meals and transportation during The World Games Free accommodation, meals and transport from 22nd or 28th July 2017 (fve nights per person plus one extra night for jet-lag participants) will be provided for all competitors.

6.1 Accommodation Accommodation will be provided at the hotel/university campus for all participants according to the numbers mentioned in the International Federation Commitment.

6.2 Meals Three (3) free meals will be provided on each full day (incl. breakfast and at least one hot meal). On the day of arrival dinner only will be provided free of charge and on the day of departure breakfast only. To provide at least one (1) hot meal on all days, in general between 12.00 and 22.00 hours. Meals will be served at the one of two catering centers located close to accommodation.

6.3 Transport All transport of athletes and team ofcials to and from the competitions will be provided by the organizers, including shuttle from/to airport and local tournament transportation. No private transport arrangement will be allowed.

Furthermore WOC will provide special transportation for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and Athletes´ Night.

7. Medical Health Insurance According to The World Games 2017 Organizer’s Agreement, the Host City no later than 31 December 2016 must publish the requirements for insurance of The World Games’ participants, requirements for insurance of their equipment (insurance of medical expenses and liability insurance) and also conditions and prices of additional insurance protection. Every The World Games participant must be insured against minimum costs of treatment. Without proof of insurance participant (in Polish or English) will not be accreditatated. People wishing to buy insurance at The World Games location, just prior to the accreditation, will be able to do it at the partner’s accreditation center. Minimum desired insurance coverage is 200 000 zł (50 000 euro). Such insurance with few extras (Third Party, lost baggage, accident insurance) costs about 30-40 euro in Poland (for one week).

8. Entry permits (Visas) Foreign passport holders require a valid visa or landing visa to enter UE, however, many countries are visa exempt.

9. Event Program The 10th World Games 2017 Wrocław will get under way with the Opening Ceremony at the Miejski Stadium on Thursday, July 20, 2017. 10. 10.2 Jet Lag Day Competitors and ofcials who travel more than 8 hours from the airport of origin to Wrocław are entitled to an extra Jet Lag Day’ in the arranged accommodation. This must be requested during the accreditation process.

11. Technical Information 11.1 Terrain Description Sprint Distance: Sprint distance will be organized in partly urban area with good runability on paved surface and irregular network of buildings. Another part is park with many opened area and very good runability. Terrain is fat. Middle Distance: Moraine terrain with erosive forms of relief and complex contour details, ravines and valleys. The terrain is located approx. 190-250m above sea level. Deciduous forest with rich undergrowth. Runability and visibility from very good to poor. A dense network of roads and paths. Sprint Relay: Sprint relay will be organized in partly urban area with good runability on paved surface and irregular network of build- ings, this part covers area of Wrocław’s ZOO. Another part is park with opened area and very good runability. Terrain is fat.

11.3 Clothing Recommendations According to the Polish Foot Orienteering Rules (Art. 8) Full body should be covered beside head, neck and hands for Middle distance. In sprint and sprint relay there are no restrictions.

Details about the model event will be provided in Bulletin 3. There will be separate Model Event for middle and sprints.

11.7 Punching system SPORTident punching system will be used.

11.8 Competition Rules The Competition Rules for IOF Foot Orienteering Events 2016, valid from 1 January 2016 apply.

11.9 Climate Average temperatures in Wrocław at the end of July is 22°-25° in daytime, at it highs amd 13°-15° at it lows. July is the warmest month in year.

12. Participation and qualifcation procedure The International World Games Association (IWGA) has agreed to include three orienteering events in the program of The World Games 2017 in Wrocław, Poland. There will be two individual events for men and wom- en, (a sprint race and a middle distance race) as well as a sprint relay. • The IWGA has allocated spaces for a total of 40 male and 40 female runners to the IOF. • The host nation (Polish Orienteering Federation) shall have the right to enter 2 + 2 runners • The remaining 38 places in each of the two groups (male and female) will be allocated in compliance with a qualifca- tion system adopted by the IOF council. 14. Media Services & Main Media Center We expect up to 1000 reporters, journalists and photographers during The World Games 2017. They will be provided with all the essential ser- vices needed to cover the event. The most important hub for all the media activities will be the Media Rooms and Sub-media centers located at the venues of TWG2017, where journalist will be able to prepare their news and stories.

The Main Media Center will be located in the National Forum of Music at Plac Wolności (Freedom Square). The high-speed internet, workspace and printing facilities will be provided in this location as well as shuttle buses to the venues.
