Mr. Po’Boys LLC

Mr. Po’Boys

Thank you for your time, and interest in Mr. Po’Boys capital fundraising initiative plan. We are three very talented chefs looking to make our mark, and set a new trend in the fast-casual restaurant industry.

Mr. Po’Boys got its first start when they were ask to do a spin-off show for The Food Network called The Great Rally, that was filmed in Dallas, Texas. After winning the grand prize, and seeing such great talented chefs, and personality they were, Food Network came calling again! This time to put Mr. Po’Boys on the BIG stage! Mr. Po’Boys was asked to do The Great American Food Truck Race Season 8 hosted by Tyler Florence. Where we competed against 7 amazing teams traveling across the country.

After the first show we filmed in Dallas, TX, we knew we had something special. We had such a great response and knew a concept like this has never been done before in the DFW area. We like to call our style Louisiana-Texan fusion. Who doesn’t like a good ? Especially one that has that nice bread with the crusty exterior, with the soft and chewy center, and we are throwing our own Texas flare to each dish we create! It’s like having the best of both worlds or should I say states!

We have included and outlined our investor packet. We believe our concept will not only work in Texas, but in other states as well. With your help, we intend on making Mr. Po’Boys a household eatery brand in every state and community we are in. We look forward to your participation and helping us grow!

I. Executive Summary

When you think of po’boy you automatically think of Louisiana, fish, or shrimp. Just to name the most traditional kind of ingredients of a po’boy sandwich: fish and/or shrimp, lettuce, & tomato. That’s the way you’ll more than likely have a po’boy fixed if you go out and get one today. We’re here to change the way you’ll be able to get a po’boy sandwich by offering different yet unique combinations. Here’s two of our top sandwiches: The “Mr. Barnyard” which is a herb marinated chicken breast that’s grilled then placed over lettuce, tomato, smoky chipotle remoulade, thick sliced bacon, and topped off with our house guacamole. The next fan favorite is the “Mr. Thompson”: marinated flank steak sliced very thin over a bed of lettuce, tomato, along with our smoky chipotle remoulade, and topped off with a medium fried egg. People are always looking for something “different” and tasty! We’re here to fill the void of people who are tired having the same thing the same way. When you think about what’s for lunch or dinner, you can always count on Mr.Po’Boys to have a fascinating sandwich combination of mouthwatering ingredients to satisfy that crave for different and tasty!

We plan on debuting Mr. Po’Boys in 2017, where it will be a fast casual dine-in and take out style restaurant. It will be a place where you can grab lunch during a weekday, take your family to dinner, be a place where you can have a nice guys night out to watch an upcoming sporting event sitting at the bar, or a nice girls night out relaxing at one of our tables.

Mr. Po’Boys LLC consists of three owners: Ryan Thompson, Cedric McCoy, & Esther Torres. All three with equal ownership in the company. All three share in the creation and critiquing of new recipes, and how the business flows in order to reach our ultimate goal. Ryan having a sales background of 10 years and cooking for 6 years, he will handle the sales department. Esther will take care of the catering, insurance, permits & licensing. Cedric will strictly handle the back of the house including inventory control, equipment maintenance, and prepping ingredients for the next day.

Marketing will be done alongside a well-established marketing firm. Once we secure a location and the landlord does a press release that we have a location. We’ll start marketing for our grand opening. We’ll be contacting our local news and newspaper contacts we’ve met while working

Mr. Po’Boys has THREE main core values that we base our brand on:

 Take care of our employees and staff. We believe if you treat your employees as a part of the company, and not just another worker, they will take care of the business as if it’s their own! We need them just as much as they need us. Our employees will set the tone, and atmosphere of each location we open. They are our “First impression” to each customer. So we will strive to make a great environment for each and every one of our staff with competitive pay, incentives and raises, and also let them create an item that will be on the menu for the month.

 Make each guest feel at home. We want each guess that steps foot in our restaurant to feel welcome. We strive to give each guess V.I.P treatment, we want them to feel as if they are very important to us, because they are! We want them to feel that our restaurant is their second home to give them that “Cheers” type of environment when they walk in the door.

 Cooking with LOVE. We don’t want to eat food that people don’t put their best into, so why should we serve that same type of food? Each of our dishes we strive to give you our best that we can offer. When we put a lot of love in our food we want you to be able to take that first bite, close your eyes, and feel it deep in your soul! This is our money maker, this is what keeps the people coming back, and bringing their friends and family.

V. Highlights

Mr. Po’Boys offers an array of very unique style to their po’boys options. This isn’t your average Cajun food sandwich shop! Where else can you find an over medium egg, steak, guacamole, pickled red onions, Cajun stuffed peppers, and different types of salsa, at a po’boy shop???.... The list goes on and on...... And don’t forget about our jalapeno bacon cheddar hushpuppies with our four unique dipping sauces to go with it.

 Marketing- We believe we have a leg up on any start-up restaurant, mainly because we have been featured on Food Network twice, with one show lasting as long as a month and a half. Also we have been on the local news, scheduled to do festivals, and have built up our social media pages.

 Food cost- Your average ground beef patty burger cost around 10 to 13 dollars in any of your local burger joints, depending on what you want on it. Each of our sandwiches cost around 3 to 4 dollars to make and we are charging around 10 to 14 dollars for each sandwich, leaving us with a 30% food cost, which is great for any restaurant.

 Sales Forecast- We estimate that Mr. Po’Boys will do 200 sales a day with an average ticket of $15 which will bring our weekly sales to $21k, and yearly sales should be around $1.1 million(this is not including any catering or any special events sales)

 Ownership Commitment- All three owners are committed to working in the restaurant doing various shifts, and doing what is best for the business. Our commitment is to the business first!

VII. Company Description

Mr. Po’Boys LLC came about when Ryan decided to own his own restaurant about a year ago. Cedric, after a lot of convincing decided to join. With Cedric’s extensive culinary background he brought a fresh new look at the concept. The missing piece was Esther who came later once we attended the food truck competition. Esther has a wide array, of baking skills along with her knowledge of cooking. Esther brought out a different side to Mr. Po’Boys LLC with the “Freaky Shakes” and grilled avocado as another component to our po’boy sandwiches.

Mr. Po’Boys LLC made it’s depute by competing in a food truck competition. The results of the competition and the original air date will be disclosed in the next month or so. While competing on a Food Network show, The Great Food Truck Rally (a spinoff of The Great American Food Truck Race), Mr. Po’Boys LLC owners met Sabin Lomac and have developed a relationship with Sabin. Having that direct line of contact for mentorship and getting the inside scoop on the industry on a much larger scale is valuable for the growth of Mr. Po’Boys LLC.

Mr. Po’Boys LLC’s product line holds leverage over its competition because it provides reliable service, cost competitive prices, and vast selection of choices. Mr. Po’Boys LLC's main product line consists of po’boy sandwiches, jalapeno bacon cheddar hush puppies, freaky shakes, and a breakfast menu. Its primary services consist of sit down dining, delivery, and catering. Mr. Po’Boys LLC will attract clients and is set apart from its competitors because we offer home cooked po’boy sandwiches with a wide variety of fixings and we are dedicated to delighting our guest with mouthwatering meals, generous portions, and impeccable service at reasonable prices.

Furthermore Mr. Po’Boys LLC intends to support its growth through continuous emphasis on customer satisfaction, introduction to product enhancements and/or additional services. Establishing long-term relations with our suppliers and vendors will play a crucial role in our growth as well. With continued growth and success Mr. Po’Boys LLC’s operations are scheduled to expand throughout Texas in the long term.

VIII. Company Owners

Mr. Po’Boys LLC owners all come from different backgrounds. They met in 2010 at the Art Institute of Dallas. They kept in touch once they graduated after 2 years of schooling. Ryan at the time was still in Real Estate and ended up selling Cedric his current home. Ryan also uses Esther for her elaborate cakes for birthday gatherings.

Cedric has been cooking for over 20 years, and started at the age of 7, and graduated to cooking family dinners by the 4th grade. Working in various kitchens cooking since his high school days helped Cedric develop an extensive recipe collection. Jumping back and forth from corporate jobs and kitchen jobs Cedric decided the kitchen is where he belonged and decided to further his knowledge in the culinary field. Shortly after graduating from The Art Institute, Cedric was promoted to Head Chef/ kitchen manager at Texas Instruments where he’s still employed. Cedric also had a personal catering business where he’d cater for small offices as well as small family parties. Cedric created recipes from bar food to single handedly reinventing the recipe for the Whole Food Market in Fairview, TX.

Esther being a retail manager at our very own Hilton Anatole here in Dallas, TX decided to change careers after her son was born 9 years ago. Working in various kitchens as a pastry sous chef and as a pastry cook with Wolfgang Puck catering allowed Esther to gain a wide array of skills she has today. Esther also ran her own pastry business making elaborate cakes, cookies, and pies for families throughout the Metroplex. With Esther having a serious sweet tooth and creative imagination our “Freaky Shake’ menu will be on of a kind.

Ryan chose the armed forces as a career early on. After 5 years and 2 deployments he decided to leave the military. After the military Ryan jumped job to job and eventually ended up in Real Estate for 9yrs. Cooking for all family functions and dreaming of having his own sports bar he decided to understand the other side of the restaurant business. He left his Real Estate business in Milwaukee, WI and attended The Art Institute of Dallas. Bartending and working as an independent contractor for various chefs and caterers around the Dallas metroplex for the past 6 years he’s developed even more passion for cooking and developing great recipes.
